Chiefs’ Reid backs up embattled offensive tackle Fisher

Sports

September 14th, 2015 by admin

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs coach Andy Reid is defending right tackle Eric Fisher, who has been dealing with a high ankle sprain and was unable to play in their season opener at Houston.

Fisher practiced last week but was not on the field with the starters Sunday. Several reports citing unidentified sources said the Chiefs were upset with Fisher for telling them late in the week that he was not ready to deal with J.J. Watt and the rest of the Texans.

Reid denied those reports Monday, saying the former No. 1 overall draft pick never approached any coaches about not wanting to play.

Pitt coach Narduzzi plans to stick with 2 QB system at Iowa

Sports

September 14th, 2015 by admin

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi says both Chad Voytik and Nate Peterman will play on Saturday when the Panthers visit Iowa.

Voytik has made 15 straight starts for Pitt (2-0) but spent most of the final three quarters of last week’s 24-7 win over Akron watching while Peterman passed for 148 yards and a score.

Narduzzi says both players will get some time under center no matter who starts against the Hawkeyes (2-0). The first-year coach added he hopes one player separates himself from the other in the coming weeks, but for now, he is comfortable rotating them.
