AMES, Iowa (AP) — After 10 games, Iowa State finally has a realistic shot at a winning streak. It wouldn’t be enough to save their bowl hopes — but it might be enough to save seventh-year coach Paul Rhoads. The Cyclones (3-7, 2-5 Big 12), who’ve lost to five of the top 11 teams in this week’s AP rankings, close the season against Kansas State (3-6, 0-6) and West Virginia (5-4, 2-4).

Rhoads said the chance to finish fifth in the Big 12 for the first time since the league went to 10 teams and the chance to grab four Big 12 wins will be motivating factors for the program.

DENVER (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs prevented Peyton Manning from getting the one record he really wanted, trouncing the Denver Broncos 29-13 Sunday on the strength of five interceptions and five field goals. Manning entered the day with 71,836 yards through the air, 2 shy of Brett Favre’s record and tied with Favre with 186 victories.

He finished the day with just 35 yards on 5-of-20 passing, four interceptions, two sacks and an almost unheard-of zero passer rating before being benched late in the third quarter. The only highlight for Manning was his milestone: a 4-yard pass to running back Ronnie Hillman. Even that didn’t come until he’d thrown his first interception, gotten sacked and fumbled.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Brady Ellingson scored 20 points, Dom Uhl added 18 in his first start and Iowa rolled to a 103-68 victory over Coppin State Sunday. Dale Jones had 16 points and Jarrod Uthoff chipped in 13 for the Hawkeyes (2-0), who eclipsed the 100-point plateau for the first time in two seasons.

Terry Harris Jr. had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Coppin State (0-2). Christian Kessee had 15 points and Josh Treadwell added 14. Iowa jumped out to a 22-2 lead in the first six minutes, and its bench scored 58 points. The Hawkeyes had 31 assists on 40 field goals, made 12 3-pointers and held Coppin State to 32 percent shooting.

Mike Gesell had a career-high 12 assists — one less than Coppin State had as a team. Iowa guard Peter Jok didn’t play after leaving Friday’s game against Gardner Webb with an ankle injury.

No. 4 Oklahoma State is the highest ranked team from the Big 12 and Oklahoma moves up five spots to No. 7 in The Associated Press college football poll Sunday. The top three of No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Alabama is unchanged after all three won on Saturday. The Tigers have 34 first-place votes. Ohio State received 23 and Alabama has four.

The Sooners made a big jump after beating Baylor 44-34 in Waco, Texas. The Bears slipped from No. 4 to No. 10, helping the Cowboys move up a spot. Oklahoma State rallied from 17 points down to win 35-31 at Iowa State on Saturday.

Notre Dame is No. 5 and unbeaten Iowa moved up two spots to No. 6.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (AP) – Matt Shiltz had 287 total yards and two touchdowns, Jon Treloar kicked two field goals and Butler rallied to beat Drake 20-13 on Saturday. Trailing 10-3 at halftime, Shiltz tied it at 10 in the third quarter with a 1-yard TD pass to Zack Wolfe.

Drake pulled ahead 13-10 after Josh Lee’s second 30-yard field goal, but Butler took the lead for good in the fourth after Shiltz hit Marquese Martin-Hayes on a 14-yard scoring pass. Shiltz ran 21 times for 60 yards for Butler (6-4, 4-3 Pioneer) and was 19-of-28 passing for 227 yards.

Drake’s Cody Thibault threw an 18-yard TD pass to Michael Hudson in the second quarter, a score that was set up by John Huginin’s recovery of a fumble by Shiltz. Thibault was 16 of 27 for 175 yards passing with an interception for the Bulldogs (4-6, 3-4).

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — LeShun Daniels rushed for a career-high 195 yards and three touchdowns and Number 8 Iowa held off Minnesota 40-35 on Saturday night to start 10-0 for the first time in school history. C.J. Beathard threw for 213 yards and ran for two touchdowns for the Hawkeyes (10-0, 6-0 Big Ten, No. 5 CFP).

Iowa can now clinch the Big Ten West and a spot in the league title game with a win over Purdue next week. Gophers running back Shannon Brooks threw a 42-yard TD pass to Drew Wolitarsky and ran one in from 3 yards out in the final 5:32. But Daniels scored from 51 yards out with 2:01 left, and Minnesota’s onside kick with 1:16 to go squirted out of bounds.

Walsh threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Carr with 3:06 left Saturday, giving No. 5 Oklahoma State a 35-31 victory over Iowa State and keeping the unbeaten Cowboys in playoff contention. Oklahoma State (10-0, 7-0 Big 12) trailed 24-7 and 31-21 before rallying for a victory that was short on style points but still critical.

Walsh drew the Cowboys to 31-28 with a 16-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter and OSU drove 84 yards in 11 plays for the winning score after forcing a punt. Starter Mason Rudolph got Oklahoma State to the Iowa State 7 and Walsh, usually the team’s running quarterback, took it from here. He hit Carr with a swing pass on the left side and two blocks sprung the freshman to the end zone.
