The Trevor Frederickson Foundation is footing the bill for transportation to the State Softball Tournament next week, in Fort Dodge. Atlantic faces Davenport Assumption Tuesday, July 19th, beginning at 1-p.m. Foundation officials said Thursday, anyone wanting to ride the Atlantic High School Pep Bus in support of the Trojan Softball Team, should contact the High School by no later than the end of the day today (Friday), at 243-5358, and reserve your spot on the bus. In addition, the Foundation will pay the students’ admission ticket price to the game for any student wishing to ride the Pep Bus.
There is no limit to the number of people who can ride, and they’ll use as many buses as needed. The Foundation will pay the cost of the buses. In addition, there will be a drawing on each bus, for a $50 gift card from Olsen’s B-P.
The Trevor Frederickson Foundation is working with the Atlantic School District Administration to coordinate the project.
UNDATED (AP) — The second half of the Major League Baseball season gets underway today (Friday), when the All-Star break ends with a 15-game schedule. The Cubs raced out to a seven-game lead at the break by playing the second-easiest schedule in the majors. But things might get a little tougher for the NL Central leaders in next few weeks.
Chicago returns from the All-Star break with three games against AL-leading Texas and then plays the Mets, Brewers, White Sox and Mariners to close out July. All but Milwaukee are over .500 and competing for playoff spots.
St. Louis opens the season’s second-half at home, hosting Miami starting tonight. The Kansas City Royals will be on the road at Detroit.

The AHS Fuel group will be hosting a pregame tailgate event at the Harlan Rogers Park Sports Complex on Tuesday, July 19th prior to Atlantic’s quarterfinal round state softball game. The event will run from 11:30am-12:30pm at the soccer fields section of the complex. Fans that attend will be able to enjoy complementary hamburgers and play some yard games with a few prizes available. State softball t-shirts and posters will be available for sale at the tailgate as well.
A pep bus has also been organized for Atlantic High School students that want to attend the game. The bus cost is $5 and sign up is at the Atlantic High School through Thursday with payment due at sign-up. The bus will leave at 9:00am on Tuesday morning.
Atlantic plays their first ever state softball game at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 19th against Davenport Assumption on the Buena Vista University Field at Harlan Rogers Park in Ft. Dodge.
