DETROIT (AP) — The Green Bay Packers won the NFC North with their sixth straight win as Aaron Rodgers threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns in a 31-24 victory at Detroit. Davante Adams hauled in two TD passes to help the Packers end up 10-6. Matthew Stafford passed for 347 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions who clinched an NFC playoff berth when the Giants knocked off Washington, 19-10.

UNDATED (AP) — Kansas City clinched the AFC West title with a 37-27 victory at San Diego and Oakland’s 24-6 loss at Denver. Alex Smith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Chiefs finished 12-4. Rookie Tyreek Hill padded the lead with a 95-yard punt return for a TD in the third quarter.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have earned themselves a week off as they clinched a first-round bye with a 38-32 victory against New Orleans. Matt Ryan was 27 of 36 for 331 yards and four touchdowns, leaving him with a franchise-record 4,944 yards, 38 touchdowns and just seven interceptions for the 11-5 Falcons. Saints quarterback Drew Brees (breez) became the first player in league history to throw for 5,000 yards five times.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers have fired coach Mike McCoy following a second straight last-place finish. McCoy was 27-37 in four seasons at the helm, missing the playoffs the last three years. The announcement came after the team played what may have been its final game in San Diego, two weeks before the team must decide whether to head back to the Los Angeles area.

DENVER (AP) — Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak told his team after the game that he was stepping down, saying the grind of coaching was taking too big of a toll on his health. Kubiak missed one game this season because of health reasons after suffering a mini-stroke while coaching the Houston Texans in 2013. The 55-year-old Kubiak leaves with two years left on his contract and one year after guiding Denver to a Super Bowl win over Carolina.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Christian Benzon and Jaylon Brown each scored 17 points in leading Evansville to a 70-58 win against Northern Iowa on Sunday. Evansville (10-5, 1-1 Missouri Valley) never trailed. Bennett Koch’s jumper brought Northern Iowa to within 21-16 with 3:21 remaining before half, but Evansville went on a 13-4 run and led 34-20 at the break.

Brown sandwiched a jumper and a layup between back-to-back 3s by Jaiveon Eaves to start the run. Ryan Taylor’s 3 pushed Evansville’s lead to 45-25 with 12:58 to play. Evansville shot 6 for 11 from 3-point range (55 percent) compared to 5 for 23 (22 percent) for the Panthers.

Jeremy Morgan led the Panthers (5-8, 0-2) with 16 points and Juwan McCloud contributed 13. The all-time series is even at 25 after Evansville won its fifth straight — and seventh in last eight games — against Northern Iowa.

For the second straight year, the Chargers were playing perhaps their final game in San Diego. Chargers chairman Dean Spanos has until Jan. 15 to decide whether to move the team to the Los Angeles area and join the Rams in a stadium scheduled to open in Inglewood in 2019. A Chargers-written ballot measure seeking $1 billion in hotel occupancy taxes to help fund a new downtown stadium was soundly defeated on Nov. 8.  The Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time” played on the PA during a break in the action after a Chiefs field goal made it 37-20 late in the game.

Also uncertain is Chargers coach Mike McCoy’s future. The Chargers have finished last in the AFC West two straight seasons and have missed the playoffs for three straight years under McCoy. McCoy is 27-37 in four seasons, with the Chargers having lost 23 of their last 32 games. They’ve also lost 13 of their last 14 AFC West games dating to late in the 2014 season.

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates tied Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdown catches in NFL history by a tight end with 111. Gonzalez spent his first 12 seasons of his career with the Chiefs before finishing with the Atlanta Falcons.

INJURIES: Chiefs S Eric Berry left with an ankle injury in the second half. For the Chargers, safety Darrell Stuckey left with a knee injury, linebacker Christopher Landrum suffered a concussion and guard Orlando Franklin had a shoulder injury.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Ariel Atkins scored a career-high 25 points, including a 3-pointer to give No. 16 Texas the lead for good, in a 75-68 win over Iowa State on Sunday for the Longhorns’ sixth straight win.

Atkins’ 3-pointer gave the Longhorns (8-4, 2-0 Big 12) a two-point lead and began a 9-0 run she capped with a bucket for a 68-60 edge with a minute left. Seanna Johnson made three free throws to cut it to 71-68 and Iowa State got the ball back on a travel but turned it over on the inbounds pass. Atkins added two free throws and Brianna Taylor followed with a steal.

Kelsey Lang added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Texas, though the Longhorns were beaten on the boards, 36-34, for the first time this season. Jadda Buckley scored 19 points with seven assists and Johnson added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Cyclones (9-4, 0-2).

ATLANTA (AP) — Top-ranked and unbeaten Alabama is in the national championship game after scoring 10 points off turnovers in a 24-7 win over No. 4 Washington in the Peach Bowl. Bo Scarborough carried the Tide’s offense by running for 180 yards and two touchdowns to earn game MVP honors. Ryan Anderson returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to help Alabama improve to 14-0 heading into its title game against Clemson.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — DeShaun Watson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as Clemson blasted Ohio State, 31-0 to advance to the national championship game. Watson was 23 of 36 for 259 yards and two interceptions before taking a seat on the bench with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. He also had 57 yards rushing for the Tigers, who scored in each quarter and held the Buckeyes to 215 total yards and nine first downs.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets have tied the second-longest winning streak in NHL history by downing the Wild, 4-2 in Minnesota. Cam Atkinson scored twice while Columbus built a 3-0 lead en route to its 15th consecutive win, two away from the all-time record set by the 1992-93 Penguins. The outcome also ends the Wild’s team-record, 12-game winning streak.

HOUSTON (AP) — James Harden torched the Knicks for 53 points, 17 assists and 16 rebounds to highlight Houston’s 129-122 victory. Harden set career highs for points and 3-pointers with nine, and matched his career best for assists in his second consecutive triple-double. Ryan Anderson added 25 points for the Rockets, who have won four in a row and finished December 15-2 to tie a club record for wins in a single month.

UNDATED (AP) — Saturday’s college basketball schedule included three upsets in the ACC. Justin Bibbs drained four 3-pointers while scoring 18 points to lead Virginia Tech’s 89-75 win against fifth-ranked Duke. Josh Okogie scored 26 points and Ben Lammers had 11 and 11 rebounds in the Yellow Jackets’ 75-63 triumph over ninth-ranked North Carolina, and Dwayne Bacon scored 26 of his 39 points in the second half to lead 20th-rated Florida State past No. 12 Virginia, 60-58.
