IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — For much of his tenure at Iowa, coach Kirk Ferentz largely avoided playing freshmen. Ferentz has changed his mind on newcomers in a shift that has helped revitalize Iowa’s offense. There are true and redshirt freshmen up and down the depth chart for the Hawkeyes, who are 3-0 heading into this weekend’s Big Ten opener against fourth-ranked Penn State.
Atlantic senior Gratt Reed announced on Monday night that he will be attending the University of Iowa to continue his track career and education.
Reed had a 4th place finish in the 110M Hurdles at the 2017 State Track Meet. He also took a 6th place medal in the 400M Hurdles on the blue oval.
Reed is currently a member of the Trojan football team and will have one final track season with Atlantic in the Spring.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska’s Mike Riley tells The Associated Press he always feels as if he’s coaching for his job. Pressure is mounting on Riley following the second 1-2 start in his three seasons in Lincoln. The program has not won a conference title since 1999, and the fan base has become edgy. The Huskers suffered an embarrassing 21-17 loss at home to Northern Illinois over the weekend. The Huskers open Big Ten play this week against Rutgers.
