We will be broadcasting live Friday afternoon from the Atlantic Homecoming festivities on KJAN TV.  If you can’t make it to the Homecoming Coronation ceremony, you can watch it live on our TV page.  We will be airing the ceremony at 12:15 pm.  Then we will move downtown and bring you live coverage of the Atlantic Homecoming Parade.  That begins at 2:30 pm.  We hope you enjoy this free webcast on KJAN TV!

Page County Accident Sunday

The Page County Sheriff’s Office reports a single vehicle accident occurred Sunday, Sept. 22nd at the intersection of 140th Street and K Avenue near Essex.

19-year-old Keegen Fayn Bintz of Sidney was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota truck Eastbound on 140th street when he fell asleep and ran off the road.  The vehicle entered a ditch then ran through a fence and hit another fence before coming to rest.

Bintz and a passenger Lisa Ann Blake of New Market were taken to the Clarinda Regional Health Center by Essex Rescue, both with possible injuries.  Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,600 and damage to the fence totaled $1,500.

Council Bluffs Man Arrested in Page County on Polk Counry Warrant

The Page County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest last week of a Council Bluffs man on a warrant from Polk County.  44-year-old Marvin Earl Troy Hunt was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 19th at 1:50pm in rural Page County.  Hunt was wanted in Polk County for Burglary (serious misdemeanor) and Violation of Probation.  Hunt was held in the Page County Jail until he was transferred to Polk County where he will be held without bond until seen by a Polk County Judge.

Teen Arrested in Farragut After Threatening Grandparents

Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to 908 Tecumseh Street in Farragut on Wednesday (9/25) for a report of a male harassing juveniles.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies were told that 19-year-old Dominique Smith of Farragut had threatened his grandparents with a gun and fled the scene unarmed.  After a search of the area Smith was apprehended and taken to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

Smith was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct and two counts of Theft in the 5th Degree.  He is being held on $15,900 bond.

Alcohol Related Arrests in Red Oak

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest of two people and issued a citation to another on alcohol related charges at 10:09pm Wednesday (9/25).

The incident occurred in the 700 block of East Coolbaugh Street in Red Oak.  Officers arrested 21-year old Dustin James Danick of Red Oak for Breach of Peace, Providing Alcohol to a Minor and Interference with Official Acts.  Also arrested at the scene was 23-year-old Kirstin Lynn Wilwerding of Red Oak for Breach of Peace and 19-year-old Christian Lee Meek of Stanton was cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

Danick and Wilwerding were both being held on $300 bond while Meek was released on citation bond totaling $465.

Red Oak Man Arrested on Multiple Charges

37-year-old Daniel Elmer Bright of Red Oak was arrested at 7:29pm Wednesday (9/26) by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officials on multiple Page County warrants.  Bright was wanted for Assault, Domestic Abuse Assault, Obstruction of Emergency Communications, and Child Endangerment.  He was turned over to the Page County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on $2,600 cash bond.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old George A. Westbrook III of Red Oak at 4:55pm Wednesday on two valid warrants.  Westbroook III was wanted in Montgomery County for Violation of Probation and also was arrested for a warrant from Pottawattamie County on the charge of escape.

Westbrook III is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $7,500 bond for the Montgomery County warrant and $10,000 bond for the warrant from Pottawattamie County.

The Atlantic Police Department reports the arrest Tuesday (9/24) of 58-year-old Blaine Buchanan of Atlantic on a warrant for Probation Violation.  He was taken to the Cass County Jail and booked in.

The Clarinda Police Deparment reports two arrests and numerous incidents since this past Friday (9/20).

On Friday, Sept. 20th Clarinda Police arrested 21-year-old Trevor Michael Shane of Clarinda for Assault Causing Bodily Injury.

On Saturday, Sept. 21st Clarinda Police arrested 21-year-old Matthew Dean Brown of Clarinda for OWI, 1st Offense.

Propane Leak Handled by AFD Tuesday Night

The Atlantic Fire Department was called to a propane leak at 9:00pm Tuesday (9/24) at Olsen Fuel Suppl at 112 Commerce Street in Atlantic.

Upon arrival firefighters found a vapor return line had broken and a valve was left on that should have been shut off.  The leak was shut off without incident.  It is unsure the amount of gas that was lost but the leak was from a 30,000 gallon tank.

The leak was initially discovered by the Atlantic Police Department and they assisted at the scene along with the Cass County EMA and the owner of the property.
