2 arrested this morning in Red Oak on drug charges

Red Oak Police report two people were arrested this (Tuesday) morning, on drug charges. 22-year old Paige Marie Clark, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $300. And, 27-year old Aaron Gar Nelson, of Omaha, was arrested for felony Ongoing Criminal Conduct, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $25,000. Both were taken into custody just before 8-a.m. in the 300 block of N. 8th Street, in Red Oak.

Afton man arrested on court orders

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reports 38-year old Michael James Chamberlain, of Afton, was arrested at around 2-a.m. Friday in Afton. He was arrested on a Palo Alto County Court Order and a Palo Alto County warrant for failure to appear. Chamberlain was held in the Union County Jail until being picked up by Palo Alto County Deputies.

Marne woman arrested for being a Fugitive from Justice

A Cass County woman being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail for Theft in the 5th Degree, was served with a warrant Monday afternoon out of Sarpy County, NE. The Pott. County Sheriff’s Office reports a Fugitive from Justice warrant was served on 29-year old Heidi K. Johnson, of Marne. After being read the warrant, Johnson was returned to the custody of Corrections staff. She was being held without bond on the warrant, and a $5,000 bond on the Theft charge.

Two other persons were served with warrants, Monday. 20-year old Keegan Christian Caskey, of Council Bluffs, turned himself-in to the Pott. County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning. He was taken into custody on a Probation Violation warrant out of Story County. His cash or surety bond was set at $2,000. And, 24-year old Alexandria Aspen French, of Las Vegas, NV., was arrested Monday morning on warrants for 2nd Degree Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony, and Assault While Participating in a felony. She was being held without bond on the Conspiracy and Assault charges. Bond on the Robbery charge was set at $25,000.

Sheriff says man died after falling or jumping from train

PRINCETON, Iowa (AP) — An eastern Iowa sheriff says a man whose body was found near tracks died after falling or jumping off a moving train. The body was found near Princeton in Scott County early Friday.
Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane said Monday that 29-year-old Robert Lamb, of LeClaire, had been drinking and likely was involved in what’s been called train jumping or train hopping. Lane says the perilous activity has been glorified in social media videos.

He says people should stay away from trains, noting their speed is hard to judge because they’re so large.

Lucas County man arrested in Creston

Police in Creston report 31-year old Jeremy Lund, of Chariton, was arrested Monday night. Lund was taken into custody at the Union County Law Enforcement Center, on a Clarke County Warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Theft in the 5th Degree. He was subsequently released to the custody of Clarke County Deputies.

Man convicted of killing man whose body was found aflame

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Scott County jury has convicted a man of killing a man whose body was found burning near a Davenport street. Tremayne Thomas was found guilty Monday of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the May 30, 2017, slaying of 35-year-old Brandon Brooks. Brooks’ body was found burning near a Davenport street. Authorities say Thomas set the fire in an attempt to cover up his crime.

Thomas will be given the mandatory life sentence at his sentencing hearing Sept. 6. Police say they believe Thomas was an accomplice of Brooks in a January burglary. Brooks lived in Rock Island, Illinois.

Pizza, Pizza…crash

A pizza restaurant in Creston sustained about $1,000 damage, Monday afternoon, after a large utility trailer pulled by a pickup truck struck the awning covering a portion of the drive-thru lane. Creston Police say 39-year old Dale Lee Shatto, of Orient, was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 through the Little Caesar’s Pizza restaurant’s drive-thru at around 2:10-p.m., when the trailer hit the awning, causing it to fall. Damage to the pickup/trailer was estimated at $200. No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued.

4 types of Goldfish Crackers recalled, salmonella fears

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Pepperidge Farm is voluntarily recalling four varieties of Goldfish Crackers because of fears they could potentially have salmonella. The company on Monday took the action after one of its ingredient suppliers notified it that whey powder used in a seasoning may be contaminated. The products were distributed in the United States and no illnesses have been reported.

The Goldfish recall covers Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar, Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar and Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel. The company has posted a chart with the product codes on its website. The products can be returned to place of purchase for a refund.
