Three arrests reported in Mills County

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports three recent arrests.

On Monday, September 21st Deputies arrested 39-year-old Amy Lynn Vanscoy of Ellston, IA for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  She was arrested on Highway 34 at 7:48pm and later booked in on $300 bond.

On Tuesday, September 22nd Deputies arrested 25-year-old Adam James Houchin of Glenwood on a Warrant for Violation of Probation.  Houchin was arrested at 11:55am at the Mills County Sheriff’s Office and booked in on  $10,000 bond.

Also on Tuesday 28-year-old Amanda Lee Flowers of Hamburg was arrested on Main Street in Tabor on a Warrant for Forgery.  Flowers was arrested at 5:19pm and held on $5,000 bond.

One arrest and vehicle theft reported in Creston

The Creston Police Department reports one arrest early Thursday morning.  At 6:00am 19-year-old Keegan Williams of Creston was arrested and charged with Trespass.  He is being held at the Union County Jail awaiting bond.

A vehicle theft was also reported to Creston Police early Thursday. A Creston man reported at 5:40am that his truck was stolen from his residence sometime between 9:45pm Wednesday and 5:00am Thursday.  The truck is a blue 2006 Chevy Silverado with Iowa License plates PAK1.  The loss is estimated at $15,000.

MARJORIE ANN HANSEN, 86, of Harlan died Wednesday, September 23rd at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.  Funeral services for MARJORIE ANN HANSEN will be held Saturday, September 26th at 11:00am at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 26th from 10:30am-11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut.

MARJORIE ANN HANSEN is survived by:

Husband: Ralph Hansen of Harlan.

Sons: Bruce (Therese Park) Hansen of Overland Park, KS.  Steve (Marilyn) Hansen of Urbandale.

Sister-in-law: Donna Mortensen of Medford, OR.

Rollover accident near Lake Anita State Park

(Updated 6:50-a.m.) —

Rescue crews from Anita and Wiota along with Medivac Ambulance were called to the scene of a rollover accident with entrapment, one-half mile south of the entrance to Lake Anita State Park. The accident was reported at 6:39-a.m.  One occupant of the vehicle was said to be trapped inside, but it’s unclear if there were any injuries.

Fire and Rescue personnel were told to disregard at 6:50-a.m. No further details are available at this time.

Carpenter homers twice as Cardinals rout Reds 10-2

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Matt Carpenter hit a pair of two-run homers, Lance Lynn pitched six scoreless innings and the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Cincinnati Reds 10-2 Wednesday night.

The win was the fourth straight for the NL Central leaders and it improved their major league-best record to 96-56. Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos also homered as the Cardinals hit four for the first time this season.

Matt Holliday returned to the St. Louis lineup for the first time since July 29 and contributed an RBI double.

Both of Carpenter’s homers came off Brandon Finnegan (4-1), who allowed six runs in five innings.

Red Oak man arrested for Assault this morning

The Red Oak Police department reports an early morning arrest of a Red Oak man.  At 3:03am Officers arrested 54-year-old David Leroy Bentson of Red Oak for Simple Assault on East Market Street in Red Oak.  He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond.
