Fraud and vandalism reported in Creston

Creston Police are investigating two incidents of vandalism and one incident of fraud. Officials say an Ellston resident reported fraudulent charges were made on his bank account between Aug. 6th and 7th, for nine purchases made online. The loss was estimated at $1,300.

On Sunday, Midwest Property Services in Creston reported that an abandoned property at 508 N. Elm Street, owned by the company, was vandalized at an unknown date and time. A door had been kicked-in and a window broken. The damage was estimated at $100. And, a Creston Police Officer noticed a Pepsi machine outside the Fareway Store in Creston, had been vandalized, Sunday. The inside of the machine was exposed. It’s not clear when the incident occurred. Damage was estimated at $200.

Creston Police report 3 arrests over the weekend

Police in Creston report three arrests took place over the weekend. Early Saturday morning, 19-year old Audreyanna Marks, and 28-year old Adam Drake, both of Creston, were arrested on simple misdemeanor charges of Trespassing. Both were being held in the Union County Jail on $300 bond.

On Sunday, Creston Police arrested 34-year old Bobbie Flynn, of Creston, on charges of Operating a vehicle without the owners’ consent, and Theft in the 3rd degree. She was being held in the Union County Jail on $2,000 bond.

CECIL COX, 91, of Harlan, died Sat., Aug. 8th, at the Elm Crest Retirement Home, in Harlan. Funeral services for CECIL COX will be held 11-a.m. Tue., Aug. 11th, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home, in Harlan.

Friends may call at the funeral home today (Monday, Aug. 10th), from 4-until 8-p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5-until 8-p.m., and where a Wake Service is at 7-p.m.

Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery.

CECIL COX is survived by:

His sons – Allen (Patty) Cox, of Harlan; Jeff (Shirley) Cox, of Liberal, KS., & Richard (Colleen) Cox, of Omaha.

His daughters – Loryce (Mike) Patterson, of Omaha; June (Jerry) Behrens, of Denison, & Peggy (Gary) Larson, of Winterset.

His Special Friend – Gladys Walters, of Harlan.

21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, & 16 great-great grandchildren.

JON CARSTENSEN, 74, of Shelby, died Sat., Aug. 8th, in Omaha. Funeral services for JON CARSTENSEN will be held 1-p.m. Wed., Aug. 12th, at the 1st Presbyterian Church, in Shelby. Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Shelby has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tue., from 2-until 9-pm, with the family greeting friends from 4-until 7-p.m. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.burmeisterjohannsen.com.

Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery.
