A Council Bluffs man is back in prison after, among other things, allegedly breaking a rib of an 64-year-old woman. Bluffs Police told the Daily Nonpareil, 20-year old Alec Robey was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with aggravated assault, a misdemeanor, and felony counts of assault causing willful injury and second-degree criminal mischief. The willful injury and criminal mischief charges are Class D felonies and each subject to up to five years in prison.
Police Sgt. Chad Meyers said Robey got into a verbal altercation with the victim at her home on the 100 block of McKenzie Circle. During the altercation, Robey allegedly assaulted the woman, destroyed televisions and collectible china and caused damage to walls. The damage amounted to $2,000.
Robey remains in custody at Pottawattamie County Jail with bond set at $7,500. Wednesday’s arrest was Robey’s second in four months. On Sept. 1st, Robey was arrested at a Council Bluffs convenience store. When he was booked into corrections, staff allegedly found nearly three grams of methamphetamine in his shoe.
Robey spent eight days in jail before posting bond. On Dec. 1st, he was sentenced to one year in prison, but, as part of a plea, all but eight days were suspended, and he was placed on probation for one year. So far, the State of Iowa has not charged Robey with violating his probation.
