KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – The Chiefs signed free-agent cornerback Jamell Fleming and wide receiver Rod Streater on Saturday.

Fleming, a former third-round draft pick out of Oklahoma, appeared in all 16 games for Kansas City last season. He joined the Chiefs in 2014, starting four of the seven games he played that season.

He provides some depth after the departure of Sean Smith in free agency.

Streater has spent the past four seasons with the AFC West-rival Oakland Raiders, though he’s been slowed by injury much of the past two seasons. Streater’s best year came in 2013, when he caught 60 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns.

He will compete with Albert Wilson and Chris Conley for playing time alongside Jeremy Maclin.

They accounted for both runs off Wainwright, who worked four innings and gave up four hits.

Fiers struck out four and has thrown five scoreless innings in two outings. Astros starters have a 1.73 ERA this spring.

Tommy Pham homered in the ninth to tie it and St. Louis scored the winning run on a throwing error with the bases loaded, with pinch hitter Harrison Bader getting the RBI.

EMMETSBURG, Iowa (AP) — A northwest Iowa man has been sentenced to five year in prison for shooting at a crop-dusting plane in Palo Alto County last year. Sioux City television station KTIV reports that 55-year-old John Metzger, of Whittemore, was sentenced Friday in Palo Alto District Court.

Metzger was found guilty in November by a jury of going armed with intent. He was not found guilty of other charges, including terrorism, stalking with a weapon and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Metzger fired a gun that hit the wing flap of a plane while spraying a field in Fairfield Township on July 31. The plane was landed safely at Steier’s landing strip in Whittemore. The pilot wasn’t injured.

DEVILED EGGS

Hard cook (not hard boil) 6 or 12 eggs.

1  In a 2-quart saucepan, place the eggs in a single layer. Add enough cold water until it is at least 1 inch above the eggs. Heat uncovered to boiling over high heat. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Cover with lid; let stand 15 minutes.

2  Immediately pour off the hot water from the eggs, then run cold water over them in the saucepan until completely cool.

3  Tap each egg lightly on the kitchen counter to crackle the shell. Roll the egg between your hands to loosen the shell, then peel starting at the large end. If the shell is hard to peel, hold egg under cold water while peeling.

Note: older eggs are easier to peel than fresh eggs. Uncooked eggs will keep in the carton for 3 weeks past the time you bring them home from the store.

Ingredients for 12 eggs; decrease by half for 6 eggs

3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or 1 tsp dry mustard
1 tablespoon minced sweet pickle
Dash of salt and pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Note: if the mixture seems dry, add a tsp of pickle juice

Cut each egg in half length wise. Remove yolks into a quart-size zipper bag. Add other ingredients, zip and “knead” bag with your hands to mix all ingredients.  Press yolk mixture toward one of the bottom corners. With a pair of scissors, carefully snip a small bit off the corner of the bag. You now have a “pastry bag” from which you can pipe the mixture into egg white halves. Sprinkle with parsley and paprika if you wish. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate one to eight hours. Serve cold.
