Ernst representatives to hold traveling office hours

U-S Senator Joni Ernst’s office reports the regional directors for the Republican from Red Oak, will be in all of Iowa’s 99 counties in the coming months to assist Iowans with problems or questions they may have about eligibility involving issues such as Social Security, Veterans’ benefits, immigration issues and other federal programs. The Senator herself will NOT be participating in the traveling office hours.

Locally, Ernst regional directors will be in the following communities:

Adair County – Wed., Nov. 16th from 1-until 2-p.m. at the Greenfield Public Library

Adams County – Thu., Dec. 1st, from 12:30-to 1:30-p.m. at the Corning Public Library

Audubon County – Tue., Dec. 6th, from 10-until 11-am at the Audubon Public Library

Cass County – Thu., Dec. 1st, from 2:30-to 3:30-p.m. at the Atlantic Public Library, Meeting Room A.

Guthrie County – Wed., Nov. 16th, from 2:30-3:30-pm at the Guthrie County Courthouse

Montgomery County – Tue., Nov. 15th, from 12:30-to 1:30-p.m. at the Montgomery County Extension Office, Suite 2.

Pottawattamie County – Thu., Nov. 17th, from 3-until 4-p.m., at the Eckels Memorial Library, in Oakland.

Shelby County – Tue., Dec. 6th, from 1-until 2-p.m. at the Harlan Public Library.

Homeless man arrested on attempted murder charge in Creston

Creston Police late Tuesday night arrested a homeless man on numerous charges, including Attempted Murder.

Officials say 24-year old Casey Welcher was taken into custody at around 11:18-p.m. at 205th Street and Hi and Dry, on charges that include: Attempted Murder; Eluding; Criminal Mischief in the 1st degree; Driving While Barred, and OWI 3rd offense.Welcher was being held without bond in the Union County Jail until making an appearance before a Magistrate.

Creston Police Chief Paul Ver Meer is expected to provide additional information either later this morning or early this afternoon, with regard to the arrest.

Bluffs man arrested on burglary charge Wed. morning

Police in Council Bluffs say a tip from a concerned citizen led to the arrest this morning of a Council Bluffs man on a Burglary charge. At around 1:40-a.m., Council Bluffs Police Officers responded to 1620 So 11th St in reference to a possible burglary in progress of a residence that was being remodeled. Upon arrival officers noted movement inside of the residence and found an open door. Officers detained 51-year old Michael Weltch inside the residence. After verifying he was not in the residence legally, he was placed under arrest for Burglary 3rd.michael-weltch

The Record Low was 14 in 1980.
