Officials with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office report a man already in jail on other offenses, was served with a warrant Monday morning for Domestic Assault with Injury. 38-year old Jason Riley Lawton, of Carson, was served with the Pott. County warrant and returned to the custody of Corrections personnel.

And, a Nebraska man turned himself-in to the Pott. County Jail Monday, on a valid Pottawattamie County warrant for Assault causing serious bodily injury. 22-year old Brett Anthony Heming, of Omaha, was booked into the jail and turned over to Corrections Staff.

Clarinda man arrested on drug & other charges in Pott. County

A traffic stop early Monday morning in Pottawattamie County resulted in the arrest of a man from Page County on drug and other charges. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says 59-year old Robin Clark Latham, of Clarinda, was arrested for Possession of a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance (crushed-up Percocet pills), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia ( a broken Meth pipe), Providing False Identification Information, and Driving Under Suspension. He was taken into custody following a traffic stop at around 3-a.m., Monday. The deputy noticed the license plates didn’t match the vehicle Latham was driving, resulting in Latham also being cited for Fraudulent Use of Registration Plates.

Trump campaign reschedules Iowa visit to June 21

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) – President Donald Trump’s first visit to Iowa since taking office has been rescheduled for June 21st. His campaign website says his appearance at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Trump had been scheduled to visit Cedar Rapids on June 1. But a May 27 news release said the trip was postponed “due to an unforeseen change” in his schedule.
Trump’s last appearance in Iowa occurred in Des Moines during his “Thank You” tour as president-elect in December. Trump won Iowa’s six electoral votes in November.

Deadline to pre-register to vote in Red Oak School Special Election is 6/16

Montgomery County Auditor Stephanie Burke is issuing a reminder today to patrons of the Red Oak Community School District: The deadline to pre-register to vote for the June 27th Special Red Oak School District Election, is this Friday, June 16th at 5-p.m. That applies to registration in-person, or by mail. After this Friday, you may register to vote at the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office and vote absentee ballot. The process is the same as for registering to vote on Election Day, and specific documentation must be provided. Burke says, if possible, please register before Election Day.

The next deadline leading up to the Special Election, is 5-p.m. June 23rd, which is the last day to request an Absentee Ballot by mail. June 27th is Election Day. Patrons of the Red Oak School District may vote Absentee ballot IN-PERSON at the Auditor’s Office, from 8-until 11-a.m. that day.

The polls will be open from Noon until 8-p.m. on Election Day. The polling place is the Montgomery County Gold Fair Building. If you have any questions, call Stephanie Burke at 712-623-5127 or visit www.montgomerycountyiowa.com on the web.

2 arrested on drug-related charges in Creston

Officials with the Creston Police Department say two people have been arrested on drug-related charges. 20-year old Brandon Barrett, of Creston, was arrested this (Tuesday) morning near the intersection of Sumner/Townline Road, for Possession of Marijuana with the intent to deliver. His bond was set at $5,000.

And, Monday afternoon, 28-year old Tara Mickael, of Creston, was arrested at a residence on N. Elm Street, on a Union County warrant for Violation of Probation on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was being held in the Ringgold County Jail while awaiting a bond hearing.
