Creston man arrested on a sexual abuse charge

Officials with the Creston Police Department report 63-year old Scott Coleman, of Creston, was arrested this (Monday) morning, on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree. Coleman was taken into custody at the Union County Law Enforcement Center, where he was being held pending a bond hearing.

Authorities said also, that at around 1:50-a.m. Sunday, 32-year old Cateya Phipps, of Creston, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, and at around 3-a.m. Sunday, 26-year old James Randolph, of Columbus, OH., was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, OWI/1st offense, and Interference with Official Acts. Randolph’s bond was set at $1,000, while bond for Phipps was set at $300.

2 people injured in southern Iowa plane crash

CORYDON, Iowa (AP) – Two people have been injured in the crash of a small plane in southern Iowa. Des Moines television station KCCI reports the crash occurred Sunday afternoon near Corydon. Wayne County authorities say one of the people was taken to a Des Moines-area hospital and the other taken to a Wayne County hospital. Their names haven’t been released.

The crash cause and other information haven’t been released. Federal safety officials will be investigating.

Council Bluffs man arrested on a drug charge in Fremont County

An investigation into several vehicles parked at the Plum Creek Spillway in Fremont County Sunday night, resulted in one arrest. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says after Deputies with the Fremont County K9 Unit arrived at the area in the vicinity of 142nd Avenue and Plum Creek Road, the K9 indicated to the presence of controlled substances in a 2004 Jeep parked on the roadway in the area.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies observed several items of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.  The driver, 18-year old Daniel Stephen Kruger, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Kruger was later released on $300 bond.

Hamburg man arrested on an assault charge, Saturday

Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports his Deputies were called to the Hamburg landing of the Nishnabota River, Saturday, for a report of a domestic disturbance. An investigation determined 39-year old Melvin Benny Jurey, of Hamburg, allegedly assaulted a family member while floating in a tube on the river between Riverton and Hamburg.  Jurey was also found to have two previous Domestic Abuse convictions. He was arrested on a felony charge of Domestic Abuse Assault/3rd Offense, and later released on $5000 bond.

WILLIAM “BILL” ROHWER LASSEN, 95, of Council Bluffs (& formerly of Atlantic) died Sunday, July 9th, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Graveside Services for BILL LASSEN will be held on Friday, July 14th at 11:00am in the Atlantic Cemetery. Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Open Visitation will be held Thursday, July 13th from 9:00am-5:00pm at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Memorials may be directed to the family’s wishes.

PAUL G. CHRISTENSEN, 92, of Elk Horn, died Sunday, July 9th, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. Funeral services for PAUL G. CHRISTENSEN will be held Saturday, July 15th at 10:30am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. Ohde Funeral Home in Kimballton has the arrangements.

Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton.

Friends may call Friday, July 14th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Ohde Funeral Home in Kimballton.  Visitation will resume at 9:30am on Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton prior to services.

Red Oak man arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Sunday night

A Red Oak man was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication, Sunday night. Red Oak Police say 25-year old Nathan Allan Aldrich was taken into custody at around 8-p.m., in the 300 block of N. 2nd Street. Aldrich was being held at the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center on a $300 bond.
