NW IA man injured in Monona County rollover crash

A man from Woodbury County was injured during a single-vehicle rollover accident Friday afternoon in Monona County. The Iowa State Patrol reports 58-year old Mark D. Wolterman, of Danbury, was driving a 1995 GMC AERO, when his brakes apparently failed as he was traveling down a hill. as he was westbound on County Road L-32 The vehicle flew through a stop sign at the intersection with E-34 before rolling over onto the driver’s side into the intersection. Wolterman was transported by LifeNet to Mercy Hospital/Sioux City for treatment of unknown injuries.  The Patrol says he was wearing his seat belt.

1 teen and 2 juveniles injured during accident near Red Oak Friday evening

An accident at around 5:45-p.m. Friday in Montgomery County resulted in three young people being sent to the hospital. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver of a 1994 Dodge Ram, 15-year old Allyssa Kathryn Kenney, of Red Oak, and two juvenile passengers in the vehicle suffered unknown injuries, and were transported by Red Oak Rescue to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. The trio was traveling west on 230th Street when the pickup lost traction and began to skid. When the driver lost control, the vehicle spun 180 degrees and collided with a bridge before coming to rest partially off the bridge.

The vehicle was said to be a total loss, and the bridge sustained an estimated $3,000 damage. The Montgomery County Secondary Roads Department determined the bridge was still safe for vehicle traffic, though. Deputies cited Kenney for Violating the terms of a Minor’s School License. Montgomery County Deputies were assisted at te scene of the crash, by the Red Oak Fire and Montgomery County Secondary Roads Departments.

K9 unit arrests Stanton man on assault & other charges Friday night

An incident of alleged Domestic Assault Friday night in Stanton, resulted in a man being arrested after he fled into an open field. Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials say 51-year old Brian Keith Hytrek, of Stanton, faces charges that include Domestic Assault/2nd offense, Interference with Official Acts, and Public Intoxication following his arrest at around 10:36-p.m. Hytrek ran from the scene of the incident in the 700 block of Center Street , but the K9 picked up on his scent and Hytrek was arrested soon thereafter.

AHSTW takes statement win over Treynor

The ASHTW Vikings improved to 5-0 on Friday night with a big win over the Treynor Cardinals 58-0.  The Vikings set the tone from the outset travelling 74 yards in 9 plays capped off by a 15 yard touchdown run by RJ Harris. The Vikings took the ball away from Treynor on the second play of their opening drive. One play later Harris hooked up with Gabe Pauley for a 31 yard touchdown pass to make it 12-0 and the Vikings never looked back.

AHSTW lead 52-0 at halftime as Kyle Brannan connected on a 21-yard field goal as time ran out in the first half. Treynor didn’t have a first down until late in the first half.

Homecoming King RJ Harris ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for three more.  Gabe Pauley had 2 rushing touchdowns, and 1 receiving on the night. The Vikings improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the district.

The Cardinals fall to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the district.

GERALD WHEATLEY, 82, of Massena died Thursday, September 21st at Atlantic Specialty Care. A visitation to celebrate life of GERALD WHEATLEY will be held Tuesday, September 26th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, September 26th during visitation with the family at 6:45pm. Open visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26th from 8:00am until the time of family visitation at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Burial will be at a later date in the Brighton Township Cemetery, northeast of Marne.

Red Oak woman arrested on weapon & drug charges following Adams Co. accident

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office today (Friday) arrested a woman on drug, weapon and other charges, as part of an accident investigation. Authorities say Deputies were called to Highway 34 and Loomis Road at around 8:15-a.m., for a vehicle accident. Their investigation determined the driver of the vehicle, 47-year old Iva Ransom, of Red Oak, was a Felon in possession of a firearm, and that she was Possession of a Controlled Substance/marijuana.

Ransom was also issued citations for Driving While Suspended with 18 withdrawals in effect, and for No Insurance/accident related. She was being held in the Adams County Jail on $5,300 bond.
