The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office released details on a number of arrests over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 23rd at around 5:00am 47-year-old Jeffrey Allen White Sr. of Omaha, NE was arrested at the Pottawattamie County Jail on multiple outstanding Audubon County Warrants. White has been charged with Possession of Prescription Drugs and Failure to Appear for Domestic Abuse. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 14th at a residence in Brayton. White was being held in the Audubon County Jail and was set to appear in District Court Monday.

Also Saturday Audubon County Sheriff’s Officials arrested 55-year-old Michael Eugene Seeger of Audubon at around 6:00pm for OWI 3rd Offense. The charges stem from an incident that occurred just south of Exira on Lark Avenue. He was taken to the Audubon County Jail and held until seen by a Magistrate and was released. A preliminary hearing is set for October 12th. The incident remains under investigation.

Audubon County Sheriff’s Officials also announced that 31-year-old Spencer Gordon Heuton of Audubon has been charged with Violation of Probation. He allegedly violation the terms of his probation due to a recent arrest. On September 19th Heuton was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Heuton was being held in the Audubon County Jail and was set to appear in District Court Monday.

The Red Oak Police Department reports a shoplifting arrest on Monday. At 12:00pm Officers received a report of a shoplifter at the HyVee Food Store in the 1600 Block of North Broadway Street in Red Oak. Upon arrival officers learned that the defendant took about $15 in food and drinks. 27-year-old Robert Dean Wiechman of Red Oak was taken to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center and held on $300 cash bond.

The Atlantic Police Department reports a minor non-injury accident occurred on Sunday at 12:09pm in the 700 block of East 6th Street.  A vehicle driven by Samantha Jensen of Adair was eastbound in the 700 block of East 6th Street when a vehicle driven by Ted Zacharius of Atlantic pulled out of the alley and started backing eastbound on 6th Street to pull back into the alley. Zacharius backed into Jensen’s vehicle and caused a total of $4,200 estimated damage.

The Atlantic Police Department reports three separate arrests over the weekend.

On Sunday, September 24th Atlantic Police arrested 32-year-old Aaron Rebarcak of Atlantic for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Harassment 3rd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drug. He was taken into custody and booked in to the Cass County Jail.

On Friday Atlantic Police arrested 54-year-old Dick Cook of Atlantic on Cass County Warrants for Harassment 1st Degree and Violation of a No Contact Order. He was taken to the Cass County Jail and booked in.

Also on Friday Atlantic Police arrested 83-year-old Robert Behrens of Atlantic for OWI. He was taken to the Cass County Jail and booked in.

Atlantic Police also report a non-injury two-vehicle accident took place Sunday at 10th and Walnut Streets in Atlantic at 9:27am. A vehicle driven by David Kirchoff of Lewis was westbound on 10th Street approaching Walnut Street when a vehicle driven by Alvin Nantz of Atlantic was northbound on Walnut Street and proceeded into the intersection striking Kirchoff’s vehicle in the left side. Damage to Kirchoff’s vehicle was estimated at $4,100 and damage to Nantz’ vehicle was estimated at $4,500.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office released details on numerous recent arrests on Monday.

Early Monday morning at 3:05 am Deputies arrested 48-year-old Robert Allen Hunter of Council Bluffs for Domestic Abuse Assault, Impeding Airflow. Officers were initially called for a suspicious vehicle in the area. When they arrived on scene the caller fled the area on foot after not obeying verbal commands. He was eventually apprehended and a further investigation revealed Hunter had assaulted his 69-year-old Mother earlier in the day. Officers observed that Robert Allen Hunter was under the influence of narcotics during the arrest. He was taken into custody and held.

On Sunday, September 24th Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a verbal disturbance at 818 Scenic Circle in Oakland at 5:10pm. Upon arrival officers spoke with Jolaine Mills who informed them a verbal argument had occurred between her and her husband. When Deputies asked to speak with the husband they were informed he went out the back door and had a warrant for his arrest. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect after a foot pursuit and he proceeded to provide a false name to the Deputy. They were able to confirm his identity as 45-year-old Michael Darrell Jacobsen of Oakland. He was charged with Interference with Official Acts and also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Driving While Barred.  He was taken to the Pottawattamie County Jail and booked in.

Also on Sunday at 1:25pm Deputies were called to 406 2nd Street Apartment C for a reported Domestic Assault. After investigation Deputies arrested 32-year-old Amanda Jean Duncan of Neola for Domestic Assault with Injury. Officers determined that Duncan had assaulted her boyfriend during the incident causing minor injuries.

On Sunday at 8:44am a traffic stop was conducted on a black Pontiac Aztec at 214th Street and Highway 92 due to the plates not matching the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 79-year-old Ronald Walter Klinker of Hastings. Klinker was arrested for Driving While Barred along with three Pottawattamie County Warrants for Driving While Barred, Property Damage, and Failure to Appear for time served. Klinker was taken to the Pottawattamie County Jail and booked in.

On Friday, September 22nd at 11:28pm Deputies attempted to stop a black Chevy Silverado in the area of the 55 mile marker on Interstate 29 for Speeding and Registration Violations. The Silverado attempted to elude law enforcement and a pursuit ensued. The driver was later apprehended and identified as 56-year-old Mark Leroy Mortensen of Council Bluffs. He was found to be Wanted on three different Warrants through Pottawattamie County for Probation Violation, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, and Reckless Driving.  Mortensen was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Eluding, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Meth pipe, baggies, and butane torch), and OWI 1st Offense.

Also on Friday, September 22nd at 10:38pm Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle at Antique City Drive and Highland Street in Walnut. After investigation 31-year-old Phillip Houston of Harlan was arrested for Driving While Barred.

Audubon County officials have announced the candidates that submitted nomination papers to appear on the November 7th city election ballots.

In Gray Incumbent Mayor William Cramer is running unopposed while three people are running for 2 Council seats: Roy John Bolick, Incumbent Joan Cramer, and Jared Olson. Also Samuel Wendl is running unopposed to fill a Council vacancy term to 2019.

In Audubon 3 people are running for 3 Council seats. Incumbents Brad Hemmingsen and Jason Hocker are joined in the running by Nick Weihs.

Audubon voters will also be voting on Public Measure A which asks: Shall the following public measure be adopted? Summary:  To authorize a change in the use of the one percent (1%) Local Option Sales Tax in the City of Audubon  from 100% to Streets and Street repair to 100% for any lawful purpose as determined by the City Council of Audubon, IA. The use of the one percent (1%) local sales and services tax shall be changed in the City of Audubon, Iowa effective February 5, 2018.

In Exira Incumbent Mayor Mike Huegrich is running unopposed. Two people are running to fill 2 open Council seats, while two others are running to fill Council vacancies that term until 2019. Incumbent Dwight Jessen and Courtney Peppers are running for the two open seats. Appointed Incumbent Melissa Paulsen and Clark M. Borkowski are running to fill the vacancies.

In Kimballton Millette L. Shores is running unopposed for Mayor. Two people will be on the ballot to fill three open Council seats: Incumbent Tony Petersen and Chelsee Jacobsen.

In Brayton Neil C. Poldberg will challenge Incumbent Mayor Cally Christensen. Two people will be on the ballot to fill two open Councilperson seats, both are Incumbents David L. Hansen and Greg Gust.

Voters in Brayton will also be voting on Public Measure A which asks: “Shall an annual levy, the amount of which will not exceed a rate of one dollar fifty cents per thousand dollars of assessed value of the taxable property in the city of Brayton be authorized for providing additional moneys for police protection as provided in Iowa Code Section 368?”

The Creston Police Department reports two separate arrests this past Friday, September 22nd.

At 12:30pm Friday Officers arrested 38-year-old Demion Garrison on a Union County Warrant for Violation of Probation. He was booked in to the Union County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.

At 10:29pm Friday Creston Police arrested 32-year-old Cassandra Larkin on a Union County Warrant for Violation of Pretrial Release on the original charges of 4 counts of Controlled Substance Violation. She was taken to the Ringgold County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.

Also on Friday Creston police received a report from a resident that a 2004 Olsmobile Alero was stolen from a residence on North Oak Street. Estimated loss was $2,500.

Creston Police also received a report Saturday around 11:23am that a top load washer and dryer set was stolen from the back of a residence on South Elm Street sometime between 11:00pm Friday and 8:00am Saturday.  Loss was estimated at $100.

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest of a Red Oak man Sunday for Child Endangerment. At 3:45pm Officers arrested 27-year-old Ryan Lee Bohanan of Red Oak in the 2400 block of North 8th Street. Officers had determined that Bohanan acted in a manner that placed the minor victim’s physical and mental safety at substantial risk. Bohanan will be charged with Aggravated Child Endagerment. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $2,000 cash bond. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies and Iowa DHS assisted in the investigation.
