…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST WEDNESDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING OR SHORT TERM TRENDS...SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE INTO THE AREA LATE THIS MORNING. ONCE THE SNOW STARTS…LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS…TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES. THERE WILL BE A SHARP NORTHWEST EDGE TO THE SNOW.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...NORTH WINDS AT 15 TO 30 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* IMPACTS…TRAVEL WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED BY THE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITY WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

A storm system over east central Missouri will lift into the Ohio Valley and produce snow over much of Iowa through Wednesday morning. Moderate to heavy snowfall will occur over the southeast half of Iowa and parts of Missouri and Illinois. Strong north winds will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility in these areas, making travel hazardous. Winter storm warnings are posted for a large part of the southeast half of Iowa with winter weather advisories from southwest into parts of north central and northeast Iowa. The snow will end on Wednesday, with cool and dry weather expected for the remainder of the week.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday, two people were arrested late last week on separate charges. On Saturday, 37-year old Michael Delaine Resh, of Essex, was arrested for OWI/1st offense, following a traffic stop at around 1-a.m., near the intersection of 150th Street and C Avenue. Resh posted a $1,000 bond and was released from custody. He’s scheduled to appear in court March 19th.

And, last Friday, 22-year old Nathan Allen Dishong, of Shenandoah, was arrested at around 10-p.m., on a Page County warrant for Harassment by Personal Contact. Dishong was held without bond in the Page County Jail until being seen by a magistrate, he was later released with orders to have no further contact with his alleged victim. He’s scheduled to appear in court March 28th.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office said today (Tuesday), that an accident last week resulted in one-person being sent to the hospital in Shenandoah. Officials say 33-year old Amy Valquier-Argumaniz, of Shenandoah, suffered non-incapacitating injuries when the minivan she was driving went out of control on a gravel road at around 12:15-a.m. Wed., Feb. 20th.

The van entered the north ditch off of 140th Street, slid sideways, and hit a small embankment before rolling over. Valquier-Argumaniz was not wearing her seat belt, and was partially ejected through the windshield. She was brought to the hospital by private vehicle.

Officials say the 1999 Mercury Villager van sustained $2,800 damage, and was considered a total loss. Valquier-Argumaniz was cited by the authorities for Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to wear a seat belt.

Two men charged in the stabbing of an Atlantic man late last month are set to stand trial after pleading not guilty to two felony charges associated with the incident, while a third person agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge. Appearing at their arraignment hearings Monday in Atlantic, 18-year old Bryce Baker and 23-year-old Mykel Thoren entered written pleas of Not Guilty to felony Willful Injury and Going Armed with Intent charges, while 21-year-old Austin Nelson plead guilty to an amended charge of Accessory after the Fact, and was given a two-year suspended prison sentence.

Baker and Thoren are set to appear for their pre-trial conference on March 11^th, with their trial slated for March 26^th. All three men had been charged in connection with the stabbing of 43-year-old Robert Leslie, of Atlantic, during an incident which occurred on January 28^th.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest Monday, of 26-year old Seth Allen Simmons, of Villisca. Simmons was taken into custody at around 7-pm, on a charge of Interference with Official Acts. He was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $300 bond.

Authorities in Montgomery County report a Villisca man was arrested on drug and numerous other charges, following a foot pursuit Monday evening. Sheriff’s officials say 27-year old Michael Scott Walton, of Villisca, was charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree, and Possession of Methamphetamine, Interference with Official Acts.

Walton was wanted on warrants out of Polk County for Contempt of Court/Failure To Appear for a Child Support hearing, and on two-counts of Interference with Official Acts. He was also wanted on an Audubon County warrant for Theft in the 5th degree. He was taken into custody at around 6:45-p.m. Monday, following a short foot pursuit through Villisca, where he was found to be hiding in a garage in the 300 block of east 2nd Street.

Walton was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $5,000 bond.
