DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have identified a man whose body was found floating in the Mississippi River in Davenport. Authorities say the body found by a fisherman just before 11 a.m. Wednesday near the Credit Island causeway has been identified as 60-year-old Timothy Maxwell, of Bettendorf.

Police say Maxwell fell into the river Saturday while working on a boat upriver near the Lake Davenport Sailing Club. An autopsy was conducted Thursday. Police say no foul play is suspected.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports a man was arrested just before 3-a.m. Thursday (Today), for being a Fugitive from Justice, and for possessing a concealed weapon. 34-year old Keith Harrison Forrester, of Council Bluffs, was arrested following a brief pursuit during a traffic stop.

He was pulled over speeding at around 2:50-a.m. on Old Lincoln Highway just south of Oak Valley Road. Forrester initially tried to elude law enforcement but was stopped at the intersection of Old Lincoln Highway and Old Mormon Bridge Road. Upon contact, Forrester was in possession of a loaded handgun (a Sig Sauer P-938), and 2 – 15 round magazines of .9-mm ammunition. Authorities say he did not have any proof of a permit to carry. The weapon an ammo were valued at $550. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license through Iowa. Forrester also had active warrants in both Iowa and Nebraska. The Iowa warrant was for Failure to Appear on a Violation of Probation charge.

The Pott. County Sheriff’s Office said also, 34-year old Guy Bryan Schwartzkopf, of Oakland, was arrested Wednesday evening, for Driving While License Revoked. His cash bond was set at $1,000. And, Wednesday afternoon, 38-year old Kevin Alan Jensen, of Underwood, turned himself-in to Pott. County officials. Jensen was wanted on a warrant for Violation of Parole. Once the warrant was verified, Jensen was booked into the jail by Corrections Staff.

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (AP) — The body of a 71-year-old fisherman has been recovered from East Okoboji Lake in northwest Iowa. The Sioux City Journal reports that the body of Wayne Krogman, of Spirit Lake, was found just after 4 a.m. Thursday. A news release from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says Krogman had been fishing Wednesday in waters near the spillway at the north end of the lake. His wife became concerned when he did not return home. She found his truck at the fish hatchery, but could not find him. The Spirit Lake Police Department arrived around 1 a.m. Thursday to look for Krogman, and a rescue team soon followed.

CARTER LAKE, Iowa (AP) — A western Iowa woman has been charged with attempted murder, accused of trying to run over another woman because, she said, she believed the victim was riding a stolen bike. The Omaha World-Herald reports that 51-year-old Tammy Oberg is being held on $65,000 bond following the Tuesday night incident.

Police say a woman reported that she had been riding her bike when she was chased down by Oberg, who used the car to pin the bike to a fence. Police say Oberg later told officers she believed the bike was stolen, and took matters into her own hands. Police say Oberg also told officers she had given the bike and the victim’s cellphone away, but police found them in her home.

Carter Lake sits on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River surrounded by Omaha following an 1877 shift in the river, but it remains part of Iowa.

A man wanted on outstanding felony warrants in Nebraska and Iowa, was apprehended at around 8-a.m. today (Thursday), following a pursuit and the deployment of a K9 Unit. Council Bluffs Police reports Officers located 40-year old Robert Glade Edie III, of Council Bluffs, in the area of 100 block of Benton Street. Edie was able to get into a vehicle and flee from officers. Police pursued Edie and his passenger, 24-year old Cody Doss, of Council Bluffs. In the attempt to avoid hitting STOP Sticks at 16th and Avenue G, the vehicle hit a curb deflating both driver’s side tires.

Officers attempted to perform a P.I.T. (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver to get the vehicle stopped, but it was unsuccessful. The vehicle fled into Omaha over the I-480 Bridge. As the vehicle was on the I-480 a handgun was tossed out. The vehicle continued into a parking lot off of 14th and California Street where Edie and Doss fled on foot. After the CBPD Police Service Dog “Olaf” was deployed, Edie surrendered at 14th and Mike Fahey Street without incident.

Doss was caught after a short foot pursuit at 16th and Mike Fahey Street. Both men were turned over to Omaha Police, where they are being held on Fugitive From Justice charges, the outstanding Nebraska Warrant and narcotics charges. Charges and extradition paperwork is also being filed in Iowa.  The gun that was recovered from the I-480 was found to be a realistic Air-Soft / BB Gun type handgun.

TOLEDO, Iowa (AP) — A former executive director of the Tama County day care has been accused of using thousands of its dollars to buy things for herself. County court records say 46-year-old Kristine Daniel is charged with ongoing criminal conduct and money laundering. The records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for her. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 8.

A news release from the state auditor’s office say auditors have identified nearly $279,000 in improper and unsupported spending, undeposited collections and forgone grant revenue involved in the finances of the day care, Kids’ Corner. The audit covered December 2009 through May 31, 2016, the time period Daniel worked for Kids’ Corner.

A criminal complaint says a search of Daniel’s residence in June 2016 recovered evidence that she’d used county credit cards to buy personal items and sell some online.

FORT MADISON, Iowa (AP) — Some southeast Iowa high school students may be banned from graduating next month after a senior prank that officials say crossed the line and became criminal. The Fort Madison Police Department says 19 Fort Madison High School seniors broke into the school Sunday. School officials on Monday discovered the school covered in toilet paper, Vaseline and posters, some featuring obscenities. Students also threw water balloons inside the building, tied the front doors shut with rope and burned toilet paper rolls outside.

The students were identified through video surveillance and given 13-day out-of-school suspensions. School Board President Tim Wondra says students were warned in advance that a “senior prank” would result in losing permission to attend graduation. Some parents say they’ll appeal the suspension decision to the board.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports two people were injured during a collision Wednesday evening, west of Glenwood. Officials say 29-year old Christopher Brammer, of Glenwood, was driving a 1999 Ford and merging onto the westbound Highway 34 turning lane at Hillman Road. 18-year old Emily Chase, of Glenwood, was driving a 2000 Chrysler eastbound on Highway 34 in the left lane at the intersection with HIllman, when Brammer failed to yield and turned left, into her vehicle. The accident happened at around 6:38-p.m.

Brammer was transported by Glenwood Rescue to Jennie Edmundson Hospital for treatment. Chase was transported by Glenwood Rescue to Mercy Hospital. Authorities cited Brammer for Failure to Yield Upon Entering a Through Highway.
