...THE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM CDT FOR
NORTHWESTERN MILLS AND SOUTHWESTERN POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTIES...

At 552 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Estimates are that 2 to 3 inches of rain fell in the
advisory area as of about 545 pm and around another inch of rain is
possible before 830 pm.  This will cause minor flooding in the
advisory area.

Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Council Bluffs, Crescent, McClelland and Lake Manawa State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Cass County Primary recount results to be canvassed 6/20/18

A committee of three individuals conducted a recount Monday afternoon of the ballots in Wards 4 and 5 and the Absentee votes, at the request of District 3 Supervisor candidate Dana Halder. Auditor Dale Sunderman reports the results changed very little, with Halder gaining one vote and Hartkopf losing one.

Hartkopf was the unofficial winner pending a canvass of the recount results by the Cass County Board of Supervisors tomorrow (Wed., June 20th), during the Cass County Board of Supervisors meeting. (Only Republican candidates ran during the Primary.)

The recount results from Monday, June 18th are as follows:

Dana Duane Halder – 158 votes          following the June 12 canvass:       157

John Hartkopf       – 160 votes                                                                 161

Linda Templeman   – 103 votes                                                                   103

Halder has stated he intends to run for the District 3 Supervisor’s seat again, in November, possibly as a non-partisan/Independent candidate.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON…

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible through Tuesday morning. In addition, localized amounts over 5 inches may occur.

* Significant ponding and flash flooding are possible through Tuesday morning due to heavy rainfall. In addition, renewed river flooding may result Tuesday through Thursday. Be aware of night time flooding and water covered roads!

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

  Southeastern Harrison County in southwestern Iowa...
  Southwestern Shelby County in southwestern Iowa...

* Until 430 PM CDT.

* At 356 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from near Logan to 9 miles southeast of Missouri Valley
  to 5 miles west of Underwood, moving east at 25 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Logan, Underwood, Minden, Persia, Neola, Portsmouth, Arrowhead Park
  and Historical Village Welcome Center.

Shelby County Sheriff’s report (6/18)

Officials with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office say, as the result of a traffic stop at around 12:30-a.m. Friday, 26-year-old Crystal Jean Oliver, of Harlan, was arrested on multiple charges. They include Operating While Intoxicated, Prohibited Acts, 3 Counts of Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and open container. Oliver was transferred to the Shelby County Jail and later released on $1,000 bond.

Friday afternoon, 67-year-old Terry Lynn Cox turned himself into the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Cox had a warrant as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation being charged with Theft 1st (a Class C Felony) Felonious misconduct while in office (a Class D Felony) and Tampering with records. Cox was booked into the Shelby County Jail without incident, and after processing posted the $5,000 cash bond and then released from custody with a future court appearance required.

On June 14th, 21-year-old Brandon William Henderson, of Audubon, was arrested by Shelby County Deputies on an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation charge in the District Court of Shelby County. Hendersen was transported to the Shelby County Jail without incident where he remains under a $5,000 cash/surety bond.

Saturday night, 27-year-old Brandon George Meier, of Harlan, was arrested as a result of a traffic accident. Meier was charged with Operation while Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Failure to maintain control. Meier was transported to the Shelby County Jail where he was held under a $1300-dollar cash/surety bond. The following morning, Meier was released on his own recognizance with a future court appearance date in Shelby County.

Sunday morning, Shelby County Deputies arrested 31-year-old Justin Michael Levell, of Irwin. Levell wascharged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, Trespass,  Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree, and Obstruction of Emergency Communications. Levell was transported to the Shelby County Jail and later released on a $2,000 cash or surety bond.

FOR NORTHWESTERN POTTAWATTAMIE...SOUTHWESTERN HARRISON...SOUTHEASTERN
WASHINGTON AND NORTHEASTERN DOUGLAS COUNTIES...

At 333 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 3 miles northwest of Missouri Valley to 8 miles east
of Fort Calhoun to Omaha, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
         homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
Northeastern Omaha, Missouri Valley, Logan, Underwood, Fort Calhoun,
Crescent, Desoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge, Hitchcock Nature
Center, Wilson Island State Park and Historical Village Welcome
Center.

CALLYN SCOTT POLLOCK, 27, of Anita died Saturday, June 16th at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.  Funeral services for CALLYN POLLOCK will be held on Friday, June 22nd at 7:00pm in the Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, June 22nd from 2:00pm-7:00pm at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

CALLYN SCOTT POLLOCK is survived by:
