Two people were arrested on separate charges Thursday, in Creston. The Creston Police Dept. reports 53-year old Gary Eugene Edwards, of Ankeny, was arrested in Adair County, on a Union County warrant for Violation of a Protection Order. Edwards was being held in the Union County Jail on a $2,300 bond. And, 33-year old Karmyn Kay Watson, of Creston, was arrested for Violation of a Protection Order. She was being held without bond in the Adams County Jail.

Creston Police said also, a woman residing in the 600 block of S. Park Street reported Thursday, someone in Florida had fraudulently charged goods or services to her account. The loss was estimated at $600.

Bluffs woman arrested Friday morning following an assault

Police in Council Bluffs early this (Friday) morning, arrested 31-year old Bridget Wilson, of Council Bluffs, following an alleged assault and incidents involving her vehicle. Officers responded at around 1:52-a.m. to the American Inn on S. 24th Street, with regard to an assault. While on the way to the scene, officers were told the suspect, (Wilson), had struck a 36-year old Council Bluffs man with her vehicle. She also crashed the vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, pushing it into the building, causing minor damage.

Upon officers’ arrival, Wilson took off in her vehicle, which was pursued by police. Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped, and take Wilson into custody. She faces charges that include OWI, Aggravated Domestic Abuse Assault, Eluding and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief. The 36-year old male was treated for his injuries by Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue personnel, and refused any further medical attention.

Kellogg recalls Honey Smacks because of salmonella potential

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) — The Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling some of its Honey Smacks cereal after salmonella infected 73 people in 31 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says most of the outbreaks were in California, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. The recall affects 15.3-ounce packages with the UPS Code 3800039103 and 23-ounce packages with the UPS Code 3800014810. Both have best used by dates from June 14, 2018, through June 14, 2019. Consumers are advised to throw the cereal away and contact Kellogg for a refund. Salmonella usually causes fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

Minor Ames flooding expected to end today (Friday)

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say minor flooding in Ames is expected to continue today (Friday), but end as Squaw Creek and the South Skunk River fall back below flood stage. The National Weather Service said early this (Friday) morning, that the creek was expected to crest more than 2 feet above flood stage and return below flood stage in the afternoon. The service says the river is expected to crest less than a foot above flood stage and also return below flood stage later in the day.

A flash flood warning had been issued Thursday for much of Story County and eastern Boone County after more than 4 inches had fallen, with more on the way. Flood warnings also were issued for Calhoun, Humboldt, Pocahontas and Webster counties. Street flooding was reported in Fort Dodge.

WANDA REED, 86, of Atlantic (& formerly of Wiota), died Thursday, June 14th, at Atlantic Specialty Care. A Celebration of Life service for WANDA REED will be held 4-p.m. Monday, June 18th, at the 1st Lutheran Church, south of Wiota. Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Visitation with her family will be held following the service, during a lunch in the 1st Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.; Online condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.

Burial will be at a later date.

WANDA REED is survived by:

Her husband – Lloyd Reed, of Atlantic.

Her sons – Denny (Sherri) Reed, of Des Moines; Ron Reed (& partner Chuck Downs), of Tucson, AZ.

Her daughter – Donna Watson (& her special friend Denny Hall), of Indianola.

6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

ETHEL OATHOUDT, 98, of Atlantic, died Thursday, June 14th at the Allen Place, in Atlantic. Funeral services for ETHEL OATHOUDT will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20th, at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19th, from 8:00 a.m. until visitation with the family (5:30-to 7:30-p.m.). Online condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralhome.com.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery immediately following the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
