Large structure fire reported near the Marne Exit

(Marne, Iowa) – Several area fire departments were dispatched to a large structure fire this (Sunday) afternoon, near westbound Interstate 80 at mile marker 51 (Marne Exit). The call went out at 12:30-p.m.  Responding crews included those from Marne, Atlantic, Walnut, Elk Horn and Kimballton.

An outbuilding-type structure was said to be engulfed in flames. Reports from the scene warned firefighters there was ammunition being stored in an office on the north side of the building.

Additional information is currently not available.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s golf team concluded the first two rounds of play in the Hawkeye Invitational on Saturday at Finkbine Golf Course. The Hawkeyes are in fifth place at 3-under par (283/282). Wisconsin leads the field at 10-under par.

Sophomore Hogan Hansen is in third place at 5-under par. Hansen fired a bogey free 68 (-3) in the first round and followed it up with a 69 (-2) in the second round. Hansen is two shots off second place and five shots back form the leader, Cameron Huss of Wisconsin.

Freshman Noah Kent is in a tie for 17th place at one-under par after shooting even par (71) in the first round of the tournament before carding a 70 (-1) in the second round. Kent had a stretch of three consecutive birdies on the back nine.

Junior Ian Meyer sits at one-over par in a tie for 31st. Freshman Max Tjoa, competing individually, is tied for fourth place at 4-under par. Tjoa carded back-to-back 69s.
