The Audubon County Sheriff’s Office reports a Cass County man was arrested early Sunday morning for Public Intoxication. 39-year old Jason Eric Schumann, of Atlantic, was arrested following an incident in Exira. Schumann was brought to the Audubon County Jail and later released. He’s scheduled to appear in court 9-a.m. Thursday.

Police in Glenwood, Sunday, arrested 37-year old Wendy Meadow, of Glenwood. Meadow was charged with Serious Assault and held in the Mills County Jail on $1,000 bond. That same day, 19-year old Kayla Montgomery, of Glenwood, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana. Her bond was also set at $1,000.

A Pottawattamie County man arrested last month on felony eluding, OWI and Reckless Driving charges, is set to be arraigned next month at the Pott. County Courthouse. Trial for 26-year old Joseph Charles Harter, of Crescent, was set for October 18th.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says just before 1-a.m. July 17th, a deputy on patrol saw a motorcycle driven by Harter driving recklessly, doing wheelies, and traveling over the speed limit, northbound on the Old Lincoln Highway. When the deputy turned around to stop the 1994 Harley Davidson cycle, Harter accelerate to near 100 miles per hour in an attempt to elude the deputy.

Harter finally pulled over at a Casey’s Store in Crescent, and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Pott. County Jail and later posted a $5,000 bond.

Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater today (Monday), released his weekly arrest report. Vandewater says 40-year old Scott William Funke, of Greenfield, was arrested Friday evening on an Adair County warrant for Failure to Fingerprint. His bond was set at $300. Thursday evening, 45-year old Brent Edward Bast, of Des Moines, was arrested near Bridgewater, on warrants out of Des Moines and Fayette County. Bast was released to those agencies that same day.

Wednesday evening, 49-year old Kristina Marie Merical, of Greenfield, was arrested on an Adair County warrant for Possession of Marijuana and Methamphetamine/1st offense, and Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug. Merical was released Friday on $5,000 cash bond or surety.

Tuesday afternoon, 36-year old Brian P. Patton, of Chicago, IL, was arrested by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper on Interstate 80, following an accident near the 83.5-mile marker westbound, where his vehicle struck a cable guardrail. Patton was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Child Endangerment, and OWI/1st offense. He was later released from the Adair County Jail on $2,000 bond.

SAC CITY, Iowa (AP) – State authorities are helping local officers investigate the death of a baby girl in northwest Iowa’s Sac City. The Sac City Police Department says officers and medics were dispatched to the home Friday morning to check a report that a1 1/2-month-old infant was not breathing. Police say the girl died after being taken to Loring Hospital. An autopsy was ordered.

Police identified the baby as Sydney Grimm, of Jackson, Minnesota. Police say her father lives at the Sac City home where officers and medics were sent.

A motorcycle accident Sunday evening in Shelby County resulted in non-life threatening injuries to a man and woman from Nebraska. The Sheriff’s Office says Robert Duermyer, and his passenger, Alicia Livingston, both of Papillion, NE., were injured when the cycle they were on left the road and entered a ditch before hitting a mailbox near a farm drive. The pair were found lying on the ground in the 400 block of State Highway 37, at around 5:30-p.m. They were transported to Myrtue Memorial Hospital.

Officials say the accident happened because Duermyer was unfamiliar with the road, which has a sharp curve to the left. Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel with the Earling and Dunlap Fire and Rescue Departments.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports three people were arrested over the weekend on drug charges. 37-year old Travis Lee Demey, and 30-year old Ashley Chantelle Nicole Hetterich, both of Carroll, were arrested late Friday night on charges that include: Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (over 5 grams), Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation. They were also charged with Prohibited Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A subsequent search warrant at a home in Atlantic early Saturday morning, resulted in the arrest of 34-year old Juan Manuel Anaya Mendez, of Atlantic, on felony charges that include Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (over 5 grams) and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation (D Felony), along with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charges.

All three suspects were being held in the Cass County Jail on $100,000 bond, each. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Atlantic Police Department in the execution of the search warrant.

Demey and Hetterich were arrested at around 11:50-p.m., Friday, after  Cass County Deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle at the Casey’s General Store parking lot in Anita. After speaking with the two occupants, Deputies became suspicious of illegal activity. The Cass County K-9 unit was utilized and indicated to the odor of illegal narcotics about the vehicle. The vehicle was then searched, resulting in deputies locating approximately 46 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and drug paraphernalia.

A tractor accident Saturday afternoon has claimed the life of Missouri Valley School Board President Dan Zaiser. KETV in Omaha reports a neighbor and his nephew found the 53-year old Zaiser underneath the overturned tractor not far from the driveway entrance to his home. The two men and Zaiser’s twin brother helped pull him out from under the machine and immediately began to perform CPR.

It’s thought slippery conditions caused by a recent 5-inch rainfall contributed to the accident.

Family members said Zaiser’s other brother also died in a tractor accident on the same farm years ago. Zaiser served on the Missouri Valley School Board for 10 years. He’s survived by his wife, two daughters and a twin brother.

The Creston Police Department is investigating several recent incidents. Early Sunday morning, a Creston man reported that his vehicle, a white 2000 Chevy Cavalier, was taken from his residence sometime between 6-pm Saturday and 5-a.m. Sunday. The car was later recovered in the 600 block of N. Pine Street. Sunday night, a Creston woman reported that sometime between 2-a.m. and 5-p.m., Sunday, someone attempted to gain entry to her residence,  causing damage to the door and lock. The damage was estimated at $30.

August 18th, a women residing in the 400 block of S. Vine Street in Creston, reported that sometime between 9-p.m. Aug. 17th and 6:25-a.m. Aug. 18th, someone shot out the drivers side window of her vehicle while it was parked at her residence. And, Wednesday night, a female resident of the 600 block of N. Pine Street in Creston, reported that sometime between Aug. 15th and Aug. 17th, someone broke into her home and stole a 42-inch television. The thief also attempted to gain entry to a safe, causing damage to it. The loss was estimated at $430.
