A Council Bluffs man already being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail, was served Wednesday with felony warrants for Lascivious Acts with a Child and Sexual Abuse/2nd offense, involving a child under the age 12/1st offense. 33-year old Jacob Russell Kolhof was read the warrant and returned to the custody of Corrections Staff. 25-year old Jayd Benjamin Speck, of Murray, NE., was brought to the Pott. County Jail, Wednesday, to address a warrant for Credit Card Fraud-Automatic Teller Machine related (amounting to less than $1,500). Speck was being held in the Pott. County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

42-year old Gabriel Angel Rodriguez, of Council Bluffs, was arrested Wednesday night, following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Council Bluffs. He was taken into custody for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. Bond was set at $1,000. And, 53-year old Paul David Goldapp was arrested at around 1:50-a.m. today (Thursday), following a traffic stop on Interstate 29. He was taken into custody for Driving While Barred/Habitual Offender.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The University of Northern Iowa and University of Iowa are identifying areas that could be trimmed to handle revenue limitations. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that officials say in budget documents sent to the Iowa Board of Regents that Northern Iowa expects to receive $3 million less to spend this coming year than last, in part because of stagnant tuition rates and declining enrollment. Northern Iowa plans to cut the number of course sections and reduce the teaching force.

The University of Iowa expects to have $1 million more to spend next year, but officials say that may not be enough to prevent future cutbacks. University officials told the regents about efforts to review activities for elimination. Iowa State officials expect to collect $9 million more in revenue in the coming year.

(Corrects day of arrests) Four people were arrested Tuesday in Pottawattamie County, and there were a couple of prisoner transfers-in from other agencies. Authorities said Wednesday that a traffic stop on Interstate 29 just south of mile marker 55, Tuesday night, resulted in the arrest of two people. 28-year old Kelly Ann Wagman, of Omaha, was arrested at around 11:50-p.m., for OWI/1st offense. Her passenger, 27-year old Abraham Josue Sanchez, also of Omaha, was arrested for Violation of a No Contact/Protective Order. Sanchez was being held in the Pott. County Jail on a $1,000 bond related to an assault charge.

At around 8:50-p.m. Tuesday, an investigation into an accident resulted in the arrest of 21-year old Steven Thomas Richardson, on a charge of OWI/1st offense. Tuesday morning, 22-year old Gregory Sebastion Williams-Stockinger, of Council Bluffs, was arrested at the Pottawattamie County Courthouse, on a Pott. County warrant for Violation of Probation. 46-year old Brenton Guy Parsons, of Pisgah, was transported to the Pott. County Jail from the jail in Harrison County. Parsons was wanted on a warrant for Driving While Barred/Habitual Offender. His bond was set at $2,000.

And, 43-year old Marion May Wright was transported Tuesday from the Douglas County, Nebraska Jail to Pottawattamie County, to address a warrant for Probation Violation.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A judge has found an Iowa man mentally competent to stand trial in the slaying of a Nebraska man in Sioux City. Woodbury County District Court records say Judge Patrick Tott said in his ruling issued Tuesday that 31-year-old Daniel Levering may not be willing to assist in his defense but is competent to do so.

Levering has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder. He’s accused of stabbing to death 36-year-old Vincent Walker on July 23, 2017. Walker lived in Winnebago, Nebraska. A trial starting date hasn’t been set.

Two people were arrested Wednesday on separate charges, in Creston. Authorities say 40-year old Brady Richert, of Creston, was arrested a little after 9-a.m. in the 100 block of Manor Drive, on charge of Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct. Richert was being held in the Union County Jail on a $600 bond. And, at around 9:40-p.m., Creston Police arrested 31-year old Waymond Foster, of Creston. Foster was was arrested at the Union County Law Enforcement Center, on a charge of Domestic Abuse 2nd Offense. He was being held in the Union County Jail while awaiting a bond hearing.
