(9-a.m. News) — Page County Sheriff Lyle Palmer reports a physical search for a missing rural Clarinda man suffering from Dementia, was officially suspended Thursday afternoon. 68-year old Dale Allen Hodtwalker is still missing. He was last seen Tuesday morning. Hodtwalker is described as being 6-feet tall, 140 pounds with gray hair, a gray beard and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue or gray t-shirt, gray and black pajama pants and white socks. Family members say in addition to dementia, the man walks with a severe limp, cannot speak and is hard of hearing. They say he left the residence without shoes or a coat.

Sheriff Palmer says the physical search was suspended after conferring with Hodtwalker’s family, area landowners / farmers, medical personnel, members of the search teams, legal staff, and Law Enforcement. He said also, “The Page County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank everyone involved in searching for Hodtwalker. The decision to suspend the physical search was done only after every possible resource had been used.”

Anyone with any information about Hodtwalker or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Page County Sheriff’s Office at 712-542-5193. Any and all leads will be followed up on immediately.

The City of Audubon is advising residents, that Building Crafts, Inc. from Red Oak, will be installing new water meters in your residence. They will need clear access to your current water meter, and water service will be temporarily shut off during the installation which takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Crews will be wearing identification so that you can verify that the employee is with Building Crafts, Inc. The City say “Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.”

A man wanted for Child Endangerment with substantial risk, and Domestic Abuse Assault by strangulation, was arrested a little after 10-p.m. Thursday, in Pottawattamie County. Sheriff’s officials say 29-year old Joshua Tyler Herron, of Honey Creek, was arrested at a residence in rural northern Honey Creek. He was transported to the Pott. County Jail and held on a $2,000 bond related to the Child Endangerment charge.

A collision between a 2014 Kia Sorento and a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, Thursday, resulted in possible/unknown injuries to a Red Oak teen. Red Oak Police say the accident in the parking lot of the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) happened at around 2-p.m.  Authorities say the Hyundai, driven by 17-year old Alexia Ann Fridolph, of Red Oak, was traveling east through the parking lot, as the KIA, driven by 16-year old Chance Eldon Kline, of Essex, was traveling southbound. Kline told police he didn’t see the other vehicle. The KIA struck the Hyundai on the driver’s side door area.

When Fridolph complained of a slight amount of pain following the collision, officers contacted rescue to have her checked out. The teen was then transported to MCMH for further evaluation. Damage from the collision amounted to $2,700. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. No citations were issued. The owner of the Sonata was identified as Timothy Fridolph, of Red Oak, while the KIA is owned by Cybill Erickson, of Essex.

KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) — A judge who presided over a non-jury trial has convicted a man who’d been charged with killing his former girlfriend. Lee County court records say Judge Mary Brown found 25-year-old Adam McCain guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced him Thursday to life in prison without possibility of parole.

Authorities say McCain stabbed 27-year-old Calove Sackman once on Feb. 5 in Keokuk, got into his vehicle and ran her over, and then got back out and stabbed her several more times.
His defense attorney said in his closing argument Oct. 17 that the slaying was not premeditated and that McCain had a bipolar disorder and other problems that would make him compulsive.

A prosecutor said that McCain had told Sackman if she ever left him, he’d kill her and her children.

Creston Police report two arrests took place, Thursday morning. 34-year old Nicholas Colburn, of Creston, was arrested at his residence on a Union County Warrant for a Controlled Substance Violation. He remained in the Union County Jail while awaiting a bond hearing. And, 57-year old Rodney Bell, of Creston, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense, Public Intoxication, Violation of Court/Protective Order and Domestic Abuse/Assault with Injury. Bell was also being held in the Union County Jail while awaiting a bond hearing.

Creston Police said also, a man residing in the 500 block of S. Walnut Street reported Thursday morning, sometime during the night of Oct. 23rd and Thursday morning, Oct. 24th,  someone entered his apartment and took numerous items. Included among them was: a 55” Phillips TV; Xbox with games; jewelry; cologne; Beats Headphones; a duffel bag, and several personal documents. The loss was estimated at $2,030. Also reported Thursday morning, was a break-in at the Maple Street Laundry,in Creston. The owner reported that sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, someone broke into the business, causing damage to a lock. Once inside the business, the culprit(s) broke into the change machine. The estimated amount of damage and loss amounted to $115.
