JEAN C. MICHALSKI, 87, of Audubon (Formerly of Atlantic) died Friday, December 6th at the Friendship Home in Audubon. Memorial services for JEAN C. MICHALSKI will be held 10:30-a.m. Monday, Dec. 16th, in the Chapel at the Friendship Home, in Audubon. Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Visitation with the family will follow the Memorial service, and during a luncheon at the Friendship Home.

Burial is in the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery near Van Meter at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the family’s wishes.

JEAN C. MICHALSKI is survived by:

Her son – Michael (Sandra) Michalski, of Utica, MS.

Her daughter – Pamela (Pete) Klindt, of Des Moines.

Her daughter-in-law: Lindsey, of  Van Meter.

8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

HELEN RICHEY, 93, of Panora died Friday, December 6th at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for HELEN RICHEY will be held on Tuesday, December 10th at 10:00am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Panora. Twigg Funeral Home in Panora has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 9th from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Twigg Funeral Home in Panora.

Burial will be in the West Cemetery in Panora.

HELEN RICHEY is survived by:

Sons: Denny (Jean) Richey of West Des Moines. Gary (Julie) Richey of Ames. Tom Richey of Gurnee, IL.

Three recent arrests in Adams County

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reports three recent arrests.

On Thursday, December 5th Deputies served two arrest warrants on inmate Allen Scott Long. Long was additionally charged with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree and Assault While Participating in a Felony. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

On Friday, December 6th at 1:50am Joleen Mary Most turned herself in to the Sheriff;s Office on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear. The original charge was for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Also on Friday Adams County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 9:28am on Sycamore Avenue, near the intersection with 250th Street. During the stop K9 Baxo was deployed and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics. Upon further investigation Charlie Harper, Luther Stopp Jr., and Hunter Soap, all of Oklahoma, were placed under arrest for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Two methamphetamine pipes, a marijuana pipe, and marijuana grinder were located in the vehicle.

Two arrested on methamphetamine charges in Fremont County

Early Saturday morning the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals on drug charges. At approximately 3:00am Deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra parked in the 1200 block of Main Street in Hamburg. Fremont County K9 Roby was deployed, leading to a search of the motor vehicle. During the search, deputies discovered approximately ½ ounce of methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia.

Two people in the vehicle were arrested. 37-year-old Amanda Gordon of Omaha and 39-year-old John Long of Little Elm, TX were both arrested for Possession of More than 5 Grams of Methamphetamine, with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp.

Both are being held without bond pending initial appearance with a Magistrate

Atlantic/CAM finishes 3rd at Joe Fitch Tournament

The Atlantic/CAM wrestling team took a third plasce team finish and had three champions on Friday at the Joe Fitch Tournament in Humboldt. The Trojans notched 209 points and finished being Humboldt (251.5) and Emmetsburg (244.5).

Atlantic/CAM’s three champs were Aybren Moore (113), Kadin Stutzman (152), and Cale Roller (285). Joe Weaver was runner-up at 126.

Villisca man arrested after traffic stop late Friday

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Villisca man on Friday night: At 11:59pm Damyn Carl Stacy of Villisca was arrested for OWI 1st Offense and Driving While Suspended with 9 withdrawals in effect. The arrest occurred at the intersection of 155th Street and V Avenue, east of Morton Mills. Stacy was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.
