Sheriff’s deputies in Montgomery County, Wednesday night, arrested 32-year old Eric Waldron, of Villisca, on two counts of attempted Burglary in the 3rd degree. The charges stem from an incident on Highway 34 and V Avenue. Waldron was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Deputies were assisted by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation and Waldron’s arrest.

A Nebraska man was injured during an accident in Mills County Wednesday evening. The Iowa State Patrol says 63-year old John Burr, of Bellevue, NE., was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup southbound on Interstate 29 at around 6:04-p.m., when the vehicle exited the interstate at mile marker 36 and entered the southbound rest area.

The pickup continued south into the truck parking area, where it collided with a parked 2016 Volvo semi. The pickup struck the trailer, striking the driver’s side duals head-on. The pickup came to rest under the trailer.

Burr, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by LifeNet helicopter to the UNMC in Omaha. The driver of the semi was not hurt. The accident remains under investigation. Mills County Sheriff’s Deputies and others assisted at the scene.

A single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Adair County has claimed the life of an eastern Iowa man. The Iowa State Patrol reports 26-year old Brian John Clymer, of Colfax died, when the 2003 Chevy S-10 pickup he was driving went out of control on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile marker 74.

The pickup went off the road to the left and struck the cable barrier in the median before rolling over and coming to rest in the left lane of I-80 westbound. The accident happened at around 4:41-p.m. Clymer was ejected from his pickup as it rolled over. He was not wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene.

There were numerous 9-1-1 reports to law enforcement prior to the crash, about a vehicle matching the Chevy that was driving recklessly. The accident, however. remains under investigation.

Police in Council Bluffs were dispatched at around 10:23-p.m. Wednesday, to the FasMart at 503 9th Avenue, following a reported Robbery. Witnesses said a black male with a handgun entered the store and demanded money. The offender was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.

The sweatpants had a red vertical stripe on the outside of each leg and a red waist band tie. The offender then left on foot South bound on Main Street towards Conagra. Nobody was injured during the robbery.

The campaign announced Wednesday will focus on social media and information programs for parents and students. Reynolds says increasing awareness and education on the known risks of vaping will help prevent young people from suffering nicotine addiction and health problems. The campaign will feature videos targeted at teens on SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Hulu and other sites. Reynolds says she won’t sign an executive order to ban the sale of flavored vaping products because such moves have been blocked in the courts in other states.

FORT MADISON, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say an armed man shot by a Fort Madison police officer has died. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says Wednesday that officers encountered the man after being sent late Tuesday to a manufacturing warehouse. The man was armed with a handgun. An officer shot the man, and he died later at a Fort Madison hospital. He was identified as 42-year-old Robert Allen Elfgen. The officer’s name hasn’t been released. Fort Madison Police Chief Mark Rohloff told station WGEM the warehouse incident was related to the earlier shooting of another man.

VAN HORNE, Iowa (AP) — The mother of a 26-year-old Iowa woman who died in a car crash last month is calling for better signage at rural intersections to protect motorists. WOI in Des Moines reports that Dawn Hess wants the Iowa Department of Transportation to take a closer look at areas where lighting or rumble strips might not be enough to warn people about upcoming stops. Her daughter, Baylee Hess, of La Porte City, was killed Nov. 30 at a Highway 30 intersection near Van Horne, in eastern Iowa. The Iowa State Patrol says Hess failed to stop and crossed under a trailer, landing in a ditch.
