The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says two people, and adult and a juvenile were injured during a rollover accident that happened at around 9:10-a.m., Friday at 250th and Q Avenue. Officials say a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup owned and driven by 66-year old James R. Bruce, of Red Oak, was traveling west on 250th, a paved road, and approaching Q Avenue. An unknown beige and/or gold colored mini van was stopped at the southbound stop sign on A Avenue.

Witnesses said the driver of the van failed to notice the pickup and pulled away from the stop sign, into the path of the pickup. James Bruce took evasive action to avoid colliding with the van, and in doing so, lost control of the pickup. The vehicle veered right and fish-tailed back across the road before rolling over and coming to rest in the south ditch. The driver of the van left the scene of the crash heading east on 250th Street, and did not return to the scene.

Bruce and his juvenile passenger were transported by Stanton Rescue to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for treatment of potential/unknown injuries. The pickup sustained about $3,500 damage. Sheriff’s Deputies in Montgomery County responded to a reported rollover accident at around 5:45-a.m., Friday. The accident happened in the 2700 block of Fernwood Avenue. Officials say a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 19-year old Nicholas J. Terry, of Red Oak, was southbound on Page County gravel road Forest Avenue, when the vehicle crested a hill. The road quickly becomes Fernwood Avenue and curves sharply left after the crest. The pickup slid on the recently graveled road and entered the north ditch before rolling over and coming to rest on its side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $23,000. No citations were issued.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several reported camper and home intrusions. Authorities said Friday, they had received several calls from Farragut about campers and at least one home having been entered during the overnight hours. According to the report, none of the campers nor the house, were locked.

Medication appears to have been taken from the home, which was occupied at the time. Food was reported missing, from the campers. Authorities remind you to please lock your house, take the keys out of your vehicles and keep them locked.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Nebraska man found guilty of second-degree murder in northwest Iowa for the death of his estranged wife has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Rogelio Morales, of Hubbard, Nebraska, was found guilty last month of killing 21-year-old Margarita Morales on April 19, 2015, in his car near a Sioux City residence. He was sentenced Friday in Woodbury County District Court.

Court documents say Morales told investigators a fight broke out when his wife told him she no longer wanted to be in a relationship and that she was seeing another man.

Morales’ defense attorney has said Morales suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and had argued he should be convicted of voluntary manslaughter, not murder.

A woman who allegedly robbed a pharmacy in Council Bluffs early this (Friday) afternoon, was taken into custody a short time later. According to Council Bluffs Police, 42-year old Carrie Anne Tripp, of Council Bluffs, faces charges that include Robbery in the 3rd degree and Theft in the 1st degree.

Authorities say officers responded at around 12:05-p.m. to the Medicap Pharmacy at 2201 West Broadway, where a robbery had just occurred. An employee of the business reported that a white female, wearing camouflage clothing, entered the business and proceeded to the pharmacy counter.

The suspect produced a handgun and pointed it at an employee, demanding painkillers. The employee retrieved several pill bottles and placed them on the counter for the suspect. The female suspect then fled the business, running from the area on foot.

With the assistance of Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s deputies, the suspect, identified as Tripp, was apprehended a short time later as she was running in the 2100 block of 2nd Avenue. Tripp is currently in police custody at the Pottawattamie County Jail.  Officers recovered all of the stolen medication, along with the weapon used, which turned out to be a pellet pistol.

MARENGO, Iowa (AP) – An Iowa man accused of punching to death a 2-year-old girl has pleaded not guilty. Court records say 29-year-old Cody Stevenson filed the plea electronically Wednesday in Iowa County District Court. The charge: first-degree murder.

A criminal complaint says Stevenson struck the daughter of his live-in girlfriend three or four times in the abdomen on June 30 at a Williamsburg apartment. Authorities say the girl died July 3. The records don’t list her name.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports a woman was arrested early this (Friday) morning following a traffic stop on a Moped. At around 1-a.m., a Deputy noticed a Moped traveling 33-miles per hour on Tamarack Road eastbound from 420th. Following the traffic stop, the driver, 26-year old Cassie Jo Brown, of Avoca, was arrested for Driving While Revoked.

And, at around 12:20-p.m. Thursday, 26-year old Lisa Lydia Carsley, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. An Investigator with the Sheriff’s Department was conducting surveillance on a suspected, unattended vehicle allegedly used in a burglary and theft in the County, at 750 Creek Top road in Council Bluffs. The Investigator noticed a female and male enter the vehicle. After the vehicle was stopped by authorities, it was determined both suspects had active warrants. Officials seized a glass meth pipe at the scene.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports three recent arrests. Taken into custody Wednesday, was 46-year old David Allen Holste, of Corning, on a District Court warrant for Probation Violation. Holste was being held in the Cass County Jail on $10,000 bond. And, 30-year old Karly Rose Thurmond, of Atlantic, was arrested Wednesday on two Jefferson County (IA) warrants. Thurmond was brought to the Cass County Jail and transferred later that day to Jefferson County.

On Tuesday, Cass County Deputies arrested 42-year old Matthew Paul Hardick, of Council Bluffs, on two District Court warrants for Probation Violation. Hardick was taken to the Cass County Jail where he remains held on $5,000 bond.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver of a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Highway 6, was arrested for OWI. 62-year old Jessica Ferrera, of Council Bluffs, was transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries she suffered when she fell onto a barbed wire fence after her vehicle went into a ditch a little after Noon, Thursday.

The accident happened as the woman was driving east on Highway 6, between Oakland and Griswold. During an investigation, Ferrera tested above the legal limit for intoxication.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help. Officials say a little after 8-a.m. today (Friday), the Rolling Hills Bank in Casey, was robbed. The suspect, a white male, wore a hoodie with a bandana pulled up to the bottom of the glasses. It’s believed the man didn’t use a weapon. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, walking east on Logan Street. No one was hurt during the incident. Authorities believed the suspect was acting alone.

The incident remains under investigation by the FBI, which will act as the leading agency. The Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Transportation and the Adair and Guthrie County Sheriff’s offices are  cooperating in the investigation.
