Glenwood picked up wins from Emma Hughes in the 800M and 3000M, Marissa Ausdemore in the 100M Hurdles, Abby Hughes in the 400M Hurdles, Coryl Matheny in the High Jump, 4x400M Relay, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, and Sprint Medley.

Atlantic got wins from Haley Rasmussen in the 400M, Taylor McCreedy in the 1500M, and the Distance Medley (Chloe Mullenix, Caroline Pellett, Kennedy Goergen, Taylor McCreedy). McCreedy also finished 2nd in the 3000M.

Boys Team Scores

Treynor grabbed wins from Noah James in the 110M Hurdles and High Jump, Cole Dooley 3200M, Sid Schaaf 400M Hurdles, 4x400M Relay, and Sprint Medley.

Atlantic won the Distance Medley (Gannon O’Hara, Zane Vance, Colin Mullenix, and Craig Alan Becker). Becker also won the 1600M in a new school record time of 4:37.40.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior Roshon Roomes has been named the recipient of the Drake Relays’ Maury White Award, given to the Most Outstanding Performer in the men’s university and invitational divisions. Roomes was a member of all three of the Cyclones’ victorious relay teams on the weekend, helping the ISU men defend their Relays Cup title.

Roomes is the fourth Cyclone men’s student-athlete and sixth Cyclone overall to win the Most Outstanding Performer award, and first this century. Jason Woods was ISU’s last men’s winner in 1999, with the other Cyclone men’s winners being John Nuttall in 1990 and Danny Harris in 1985. Cyclone women to be named Most Outstanding Performer at the Drake Relays have been Edith Nakiyingi in 1990 and Nawal El Moutawakel in 1984.

Roomes was a member of the winning relays in the sprint medley relay, 4×800-meter relay and distance medley relay, making the Cyclones the first men’s university program to win all three at the same Drake Relays since Kansas in 1954.

The highlight for Roomes and the Cyclones came on Friday evening in the 4×800, with a superstar-laden Iowa State squad aiming to take down one of the oldest Drake Relays records, Nebraska’s 7:14.89 in 1985. Roomes ran the third leg and got the stick with ISU ahead by two seconds, he put up a 1:47.88 split that put the Cyclones ahead by six seconds and running after the record, which they got in 7:12.57. The time, with Roomes joined by Jason Gomez, Daniel Nixon and Festus Lagat, broke both the Drake Relays and Iowa State’s school record and is the fifth-fastest 4x800m relay in collegiate history, the fastest run since 2011. ISU has now won the Drake Relays 4x800m relay three-straight times.

Roomes started his weekend off with a controlled performance in the sprint medley relay, anchoring for the team of Gage Clay, Joven Nelson and Eric Fogltanz in a comfortable 1:51.43 800-split to get the victory. In the distance medley relay, Roomes ran the 400m leg and got the baton in third, but fired off a huge 47.08 split, the fastest in the field, to put ISU ahead and defend their DMR crown.

A six-time All-American, six-time Drake Relays champion and three-time Big 12 champion, Roomes currently ranks No. 13 nationally in the 800-meter run this year with a 1:47.87 run at the Hayward Premiere at the beginning of April.

Roomes and the Cyclones return to competition this weekend at Kansas’ Rock Chalk Classic and Mississippi State’s Maroon & White Invite.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior guard Jordan Bohannon announced on Monday that he will return to the Hawkeyes for his sixth season in 2021-22.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NCAA granted eligibility relief to winter sport athletes during the 2020-21 academic year.

“I am beyond excited to return to Iowa for my sixth year,” said Bohannon. “Last year never felt right with no fans in attendance. I look forward to providing leadership to the young guys this upcoming year and help them along the way of the incredible journey.”

Bohannon is Iowa’s career record holder in assists (639), 3-pointers made (364), free throw percentage (.887), and games played (143). He ranks ninth in Iowa career scoring with 1,638) points and is one of only three Hawkeyes with four 100-assist seasons (Dean Oliver, Jeff Horner). Bohannon is the only player on program history to amass seven career points-assists double-doubles and eight career games with 10 or more assists.

Last season, Bohannon was an honorable mention All-Big Ten honoree, ranking first on the squad in 3-pointers made (80) and assists (135), and third in points per game (10.6).

“We are excited that Jordan has decided to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility and return for another season,” said head coach Fran McCaffery. “Having someone with his talent and experience on our roster will be invaluable to our guys. Jordan will bolster our backcourt and will be a team leader on and off the court.”

The native of Marion, Iowa, had his 2019-20 season cut short after 10 games, undergoing season-ending hip surgery in December, 2019.

Bohannon was voted to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in 2017, was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2018, and earned third-team all-league accolades in 2019.

The last Iowa men’s basketball player to be on the roster six years was Jess Settles (1994-99). Settles played three seasons before injury setbacks in 1997 and 1998 delayed his senior season until 1999.
