May 10th, 2021 by Ric Hanson

(Radio Iowa) – A weekend police chase that spanned multiple counties ended with a crash in Fort Dodge. The pursuit began at around 2:44-p.m., Sunday, a Trooper with the Iowa State Patrol stopped a gold 2012 Chevy Impala in Carroll, for a tinted window violation. After making contact with the driver, the Trooper requested a K-9. The K-9 indicated on the outside of the vehicle and Troopers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. The driver then sped off, leading Troopers on a chase from Carroll to Fort Dodge, a distance of approximately 60 miles, at speeds over 100 mph at times.

As the driver approached Fort Dodge on Old Highway 20 near Highway 169, the Iowa State Patrol made intentional vehicle contact with the fleeing car.  The driver went into the ditch ending the pursuit. Troopers approached the vehicle and found the driver with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  A loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered next to the driver in the vehicle. The driver was identified as 18-year-old Isiah Christopher Mosely, of Fort Dodge. Mosely was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa where he is being treated for his injuries.
