Harlan Police Report 08/17/2021

The Harlan Police Department released details on a number of recent arrests late Tuesday.

On Monday, August 16th Officers responded to a call for service and arrested 50-year-old Douglas Dennis of Sioux Falls on charges of Theft 1st, Theft 5th, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to have a Valid Driver’s License, and Improper Use of Registration.

On Sunday, August 15th Officers arrested 21-year-old Kylee Ann Marie Sargent of LaVista, NE on a charge of Publice Intoxication.

On August 12th 34-year-old Kimberlee Anne Green of Harlan was arrested on an active Shelby County Warrant and booked into the Shelby County Jail.

On August 6th 27-year-old Jordan Leigh Confere of Harlan was arrested on a Shelby County Warrant and booked in.

On August 1st 36-year-old Rebecca Ann Boruff of Harlan was arrested on an active Pottawattamie County Warrant and booked in to the Shelby County Jail.

Malvern man air-lifted from crash on Friday

A Malvern man was flown by life net helicopter to UNMC with undisclosed injuries following an accident Friday. 26-year-old Austin Parker of Malvern was driving a 2004 Chevy southbound on 360th Street in Mills County and attempted to turn westbound on Lambert Avenue. He was traveling too fast to make the turn and lost control entering the north ditch, rolling over, and ejecting Parker from the vehicle. The accident happened at about 3:24 p.m. No further details were given at this time.

Motorcycle rear-ends another vehicle in Mills County

The driver of a motorcyle was transported to the hospital following a rear-end collision in Mills County last week.

On Friday, August 13th 46-year-old Robin Crippen of Cripple Creek, CO was driving a 2014 Chevy and was parked at a construction stop light on Bunge Avenue. 75-year-old Joe Arellano of Bellevue, NE was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson MT and didn’t see the Chevy as he approached. The Harley rear-ended the Chevy and Arellano was thrown from his bike.

Arellano was taken by Bellevue EMS to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Crippen was uninjured during the crash.

Malvern man avoids serious injury in rollover accident

A Malvern man sustained unknown injuries during a rollover accident on August 12th. 31-year-old Scott Martin of Malvern was traveling east bound on HIghway 34 in a 1999 Toyota when he left the roadway onto the south side shoulder. The Toyota then went into the ditch and hit two roadside signs before swerving back across the roadway. The vehicle then rolled across the roadway and onto its side in the median. Martin was able to free himself by kicking out a window and he sustained several minor injuries.

Martin was looking in the surrounding wooded area when Mills County Deputies arrived because his dog had been thrown from the vehicle during the rollover. Martin stated that he was looking at his phone when the accident occurred.

Mills County Sheriff’s Report 08/17/2021

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office released details on a number of arrests this past week.

On August 13th Deputies arrested 65-year-old Ronald Thomas Martell of Omaha, NE on a warrant for Failure to Appear on a Contempt of Court charge. He was served the warrant at Pottawattamie County Corrections and held on $1,000 bond.

Also August 13th 37-year-old Samantha Jo Abraham of Council Bluffs was arrested on I-29 for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Tax Stamp Violation. She was held on $25,000 bond.

Also August 13th 43-year-old Matthew Terrill Ollie of Council Bluffs was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance on I-29. He was held on $25,000 bond.

August 14th Deputies arrested 54-year-old John Merrill Myers of Glenwood on Gingry Lane for Domestic Abuse Assault and Interference with Official Acts. He was held on $600 bond.

August 15th 27-year-old Jacob Anthony Larsen of Omaha, NE was arrested for Driving While Barred on Bunge Avenue. His bond was set at $2,000.

August 16th 51-year-old William Joseph Cox of Missouri Valley was arrested on I-29 for Driving While Barred. He was held on $2,000 bond.

August 17th 24-year-old Noah Wayne Packett of Glenwood was arrested for Domestic Abuse Assault and Obstruction of Emergency Communication. He was held on $1,000 bond.

ISU sets record for football season ticket sales, single game tickets on sale Wednesday

AMES, Iowa –The Iowa State Athletics Department announced today that it has established a school record total of season football tickets sold for 2021, surpassing the 48,000 mark for the first time ever.  Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard is optimistic that this total could rise to over 49,000 before the season-opener Sept. 4 vs. UNI in Jack Trice Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

“There is tremendous excitement surrounding our Top 10 program and an amazing tradition of loyalty and support among our fanbase,” Pollard said. “Matt Campbell, his staff and student-athletes have done a phenomenal job in raising the standard of Cyclone Football. Our goal is to sell out as many games this season to show the nation we have the best fans in college football.”

The Cyclone Athletics Ticket Office will accept single-game football ticket orders beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Cyclones.com or by phone (toll free at 888-478-2925 or locally at 515-294-1816).

Single-game tickets are available for ISU’s home games: UNI (Sept. 4), Kansas (Oct. 2), Oklahoma State (Oct. 23- Homecoming), Texas (Nov. 6) and TCU (Nov. 26). Tickets for the Iowa game (Sept. 11) are sold out.

Tickets for the UNI game range from $55-$75. For all other games, tickets are available from $65-$85.

The Athletics Department utilizes Ticketmaster for all athletic event ticket sales and is implementing digital ticketing for the 2021 football season. It is strongly recommended that all fans purchase tickets from Cyclones.com or Ticketmaster.com to ensure ticket verification. Purchasing tickets from an unverified third-party site is a risk and may not be valid.

Iowa State is ranked No. 7 in the preseason AP poll behind the strength of 19 returning starters from last year’s PlayStation Fiesta Bowl championship team that went 9-3.
