Cass County Conference Board votes to extend insurance coverage for two former county employees

News

October 1st, 2021 by admin

The Cass County Conference Board met on Thursday evening in the Cass County Courtroom to discuss an insurance coverage situation for two former employees. A majority of Mayors, School Boards, and Supervisors voted in favor of continuing their coverage through the end of the year.

Coverage for the two was set to expire on October 31st and they would of had to pay out of pocket to keep coverage for November and December. The two employees were let go during restructuring of duties and a number of those involved at the meeting thought it was the right thing to do to extend the benefit. The county will absorb the cost of coverage for the remainder of the year for approximately $9,200. The money will come out of the Assessor’s budget.

A separation agreement with the coverage included is being drafted and will be given to the former employees to sign.

No. 5 Iowa visits Maryland tonight

Sports

October 1st, 2021 by admin

It is back to the Big Ten for the fifth ranked Iowa Hawkeyes Friday night as they visit Maryland in a battle of 4-0 teams. Led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa (Tau-lee-uh Tongue-uh-vai-LO-uh) the Terps’ offense is averaging better than 37 points per game and Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Tagovailoa’s mobility is also a concern.

Ferentz says controlling the tempo of the game is important but that is not always possible.

Ferentz says the Hawkeyes’ veteran secondary will be challenged

Iowa trailed for the first time in the second half against Colorado State and Ferentz says his team will need to handle that kind of adversity the remainder of the season.

We’ll have coverage of the game on the Hawkeye Radio Network tonight. Pregame is at 5:00 p.m. with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
