Mahomes throws 5 TD’s as Chiefs down Eagles

Andy Reid became the first head coach in NFL history to win 100 games with two different franchises, as his current team the Kansas City Chiefs beat his former team the Philadelphia Eagles 42-30.

Patrick Mahomes threw five touchdown passes, three to Tyreek Hill as the Chiefs got the offense cooking. Kansas City racked up 472 yards of offense in the victory. Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished with 102 yards on the gound.

Jalen Hurts threw for 387 yards and two scores for the Eagles in the loss.

Kansas City improves to 2-2 on the season and will next up host the Bills for a big Sunday Night Football match-up.

5 arrested on drug charges in Creston; Truck & trailer stolen

(Creston, Iowa) – The Creston Police Department reports five Creston residents were arrested on drug charges over the past couple of days. Early Saturday morning: 23-year-old Amber Renee Cox was arrested at Green Valley Lake Road and US Highway 25. Cox was charged with Possession of Precursor Substances-sale/receipt of precursor substance for manufacture of controlled substance. Cox was taken to Adams County Jail where she remains in custody on $10,000 cash or surety bond; 39-year old Jacob Jeffrey Fry was arrested at the Creston/Union County Law Enforcement Center for Possession of Precursor Substances-sale/receipt of precursor substance for manufacture of controlled substance. Fry was being held in the Union Jail on $10,000 cash or surety bond; 36-year-old Brandon Charles Millsap was also arrested at the Creston/Union County Law Enforcement Center, for Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Offense and Possession of Cannabidiol 1st Offense. Millsap later posted a $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Friday afternoon, 41-year-old Chad Michael Mastin, of Creston, was arrested at his residence. Mastin was charged with Possession of Precursor Substances-Sale/Receipt of Precursor Substance for Manufacture of Controlled Substance and Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Offense. He was later released on $11,000 bond. And, 18-year-old Emily Rae Marie Dohrn, of Creston, was arrested on multiple Union County Warrants. Dohrn was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference with Official Acts, Provide False Identification Information, Forgery, and Possession of Controlled Substance-Marijuana 1st Offense. She was taken to Union County Jail and later bonded-out

Creston Police said also, on Friday afternoon, Central Iowa Ready Mix, in Creston, reported that a 2014 F-150 truck and trailer had been stolen during the previous weekend. The trailer was located in Cass County but the F-150 truck is still missing. The value of the truck was not available.

Iowa rises to No. 3 in AP Poll

(Radio Iowa)  It will be number three versus number four Saturday in Kinnick Stadium when Iowa Hawks Penn State. The Hawkeyes are up to third in the latest AP College Football Poll. The Hawkeyes are 5-0 after a 51-14 win at Maryland and have won 11 straight games dating back to last season. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.

Ferentz says the Hawkeyes need to keep making strides.

Quarterback Spencer Petras continues his improved play. He had three touchdown passes against the Terps and rushed for two more.

Iowa State enters bye week after blasting Kansas

(Radio Iowa) – Iowa State heads into a bye week with a 3-2 record after a 59-7 drubbing of Kansas. Cyclone coach Matt Campbell was pleased with the way his team bounced back from a loss at Baylor.

Despite suffering two losses Campbell is happy with the way his team is playing.

Campbell says being successful on game day begins with performing well in practice.

UNI rolls in Missouri Valley opener

(Radio Iowa) – UNI rolled to a 34-7 win over Youngstown State in their Missouri Valley opener. The Panthers raced out to a 31-0 lead at halftime as they improved to 3-1 on the season.

That’s UNI coach Mark Farley who says the Panthers have built momentum with their third straight win.

Farley says it was a good test for his team.

Next up is a visit to North Dakota State.

Funeral services for MARVIN KAUFMAN will be held 11:30-a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7th, at GracePoint Church (formerly the Evangelical Free Church), in Atlantic. Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic has the arrangements. (The service will be recorded and made available for viewing on Friday, on Roland’s website)

LEO SONDERMAN, 82, of Defiance, died Sunday, Oct. 3rd, at the Salem Lutheran Home. A Mass of Christian Burial for LEO SONDERMAN will be held 11-a.m. Wed., Oct. 6th, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, in Defiance. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Friends may call at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, on Tuesday, Oct. 5th, from 5-until 8-p.m., with a Wake service at 7-p.m.

Burial is in the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Defiance.
