IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced Thursday that season tickets for the 2021-22 Hawkeye wrestling season are sold out.

Home duals against Minnesota and Penn State are also sold out. A limited number of single tickets for home duals against Princeton, Oregon State, Purdue and Wisconsin may become available for public purchase at a later date. That information will be announced the week leading up to each home event. 

Capacity for wrestling duals at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 2021-22 is 14,905. The Hawkeyes have led the nation in attendance in every season since 2006-07, head coach Tom Brands’ first as head coach. The 2019-20 Hawkeyes set a set an NCAA average attendance record of 12,568 fans.

The defending NCAA champions return 10 All-Americans in 2021-22, including three-time NCAA champion and two-time Hodge Trophy winner Spencer Lee.

Iowa wrestling events are broadcast by KXIC and streamed online at iHeart Radio. Seven of Iowa’s eight home duals are televised on Big Ten Network. A BTN broadcast schedule is available at hawkeyesports.com.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair Gary Barta announced on Thursday that Vicki Brown has been terminated, without cause, as head coach of the UI volleyball program. A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

“We appreciate Coach Brown’s five years of service with our volleyball program, especially during a difficult transition prior to the 2019 season and the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Barta. “We wish her the best of luck moving forward.”

Brown was named Iowa’s 10th head coach in program history in September, 2019. She first joined the Hawkeyes in 2017 as associate head coach, followed by three months as the team’s interim head coach. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Brown compiled a 17-56 overall record in two-plus seasons, including winning 10 matches her first season in 2019. Brown played collegiately at the University of Illinois from 2004-07.

Iowa assistant coaches Dave Brown and William Tatge will oversee the volleyball program on an interim basis. Brown, who also serves at the team’s recruiting coordinator, is in his second season with the Hawkeyes after serving as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Loyola Chicago from 2018-19. Tatge joined the staff in June, 2021, after serving as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech the previous two seasons.

The Hawkeyes have eight matches remaining in the 2021 season.
