(Radio Iowa) – Iowa senior Ivory Kelly-Martin will get the start in the 15th ranked Hawkeyes Citrus Bowl game against Kentucky. Kelly-Martin has 44 carries in nine games and replaces Tyler Goodson, who opted out to prepare for the NFL Draft. The Hawkeyes last bowl game was in Florida at the Outback Bowl.

Kelly-Martin says it is a chance to play an outstanding SEC opponent.

Kelly-Martin says it is an opportunity for him.

Iowa State DC Jon Heacock previews Clemson

(Radio Iowa) – Iowa State defensive coordinator Jon Heacock credits personnel over style of play for the Cyclones rise as a defensive force in the Big 12. A number of key seniors will play their final game for Wednesday when ISU takes on Clemson in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Heacock it was the seniors who believed in a system that worked in a conference known for high scoring games.

Heacock says it was the players who helped make their unique system work.

Clemson has a new offensive coordinator but Heacock does not expect that to alter their game plan. Chad Streeter is the Tigers’ new play caller after Tony Elliott left to become the new head coach at Virginia.

Heacock says they don’t want to focus on what Clemson may do.

JOLENE R. DuVALL, 75, of Audubon, died Thu., Dec. 23rd, at her son’s home, west of Hamlin. Funeral services for JOLENE DuVALL will be held 10:30-a.m. Friday, Dec. 31st, at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family visitation is on Thursday, Dec. 30th, from 5-until 7-p.m.

Burial is in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon.

JOLENE DuVALL is survived by:

Her daughter – Lana ( & husband Darv) Wittrock, of Audubon.

Her son – Joel (Rhonda) DuVall, of Audubon.

Her sisters – Shirley Small, of Fremont, Nebraska; Marilyn Hansen, of Manning, and Kathleen Hansen, of Bondurant.

5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

MISSING:  Sandy colored 8 month old kitty. His ear is clipped because he has been neutered and had his rabies shot.  Last seen Friday evening Dec 3rd and Sat morning he was gone.  He has always been here ready to eat and play with brother and sister. His eyes run a lot too so he usually has marks down his eyes.  If anyone knows about him let me know.  If someone picked him up I just want to know either way if he’s OK or something bad might have happened to him. Mason City man serving life for kidnapping dies in prison

(Radio Iowa) – A Mason City man serving a life sentence has died in prison. The Iowa Department of Corrections says 54-year-old Kenneth Ray Sharp died from natural causes Sunday at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center where he had been taken due to chronic illness. Sharp was convicted by a jury of first-degree kidnapping in November of 1995 after he and another man were accused of kidnapping and raping a woman. Sharp went to prison on December 21st, 1995 — and unsuccessfully appealed his sentence in 2008.

Teen arrested for Theft & Public Intox. in Red Oak

Police in Red Oak say a 16-year-old female was arrested early today (Tuesday), in the 2400 block of N. Broadway Street. The unidentified teen was taken into custody at around 1:17-a.m. for Theft and Public Intoxication. She was transported to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center and released to a Guardian.

DONNA RAE FARRELL, 90, of Shelby, died Saturday, Dec. 25th, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan. Funeral services for DONNA FARRELL will be held 2-p.m. Monday, Jan. 3rd, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

Visitation at the funeral home is on Sunday, Jan. 2nd, from 1-until 5-p.m.

Burial is in the Shelby Cemetery.

DONNA FARRELL is survived by:

Her daughters – Leslie Peters, and Amy (Donnie) Buboltz, all of Shelby.

Her sister – Patricia Gorton, of Cedar Rapids.

4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her dear friends Darrell and June Weinbrandt, of Shelby.
