JUDIE AHRENHOLTZ, 79, of Elk Horn died Saturday, May 21st at the Salem Lutheran Home.  A Private Family interment for JUDIE AHRENHOLTZ will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Harlan Cemetery. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation is on Thursday, May 26th, from 5-until 8-p.m., at the funeral home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

JUDIE AHRENHOLTZ is survived by:

Her daughter – Christine (Tony) Brown, of Stilwell, KS.

Her son – Tony Ahrenholtz, of Overland Park, KS.

Her sister – Ruth Keres, of Tampa, FL.

2 grandchildren, and her sisters-in-law from Harlan.

Multi-vehicle accident on I-80 west of Stuart

(Adair County, Iowa) – Officials with the Stuart Fire Department posted on social media this (Sunday) morning, “A reminder to slow down when coming up on any accident.” The post says that at around 3:45-a.m., “Stuart Fire was paged to a multi-vehicle accident involving 2 semis and 2 passenger vehicles at the 91mm west bound I-80. West bound was completely blocked and east bound partially blocked. While processing the scene there was a secondary collision of a semi and passenger vehicle going east bound.”

Red Oak man arrested Sunday morning

A 9-1-1 call about a domestic disturbance early this (Sunday) morning, in Red Oak, resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Randall Wesley Lynn Butts, of Red Oak. He was taken into custody for Interference with Official Acts. Butts was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $300 bond.

Glenwood man dies in Mills County I-29 crash

A collision Saturday night on Interstate 29 in Mills County left one person dead. The Iowa State Patrol reports 40-year-old Caleb Wear, of Glenwood, died from his injuries, after being flown by Life Flight to the UNMC in Omaha.

Authorities say a 2011 Toyota Sienna van driven by 47-year-old Bharatkumar Patel, of Papillion, NE, was northbound on I-29 at the same time a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Wear was traveling northbound. For reasons unknown, van struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing both vehicles to leave the road and enter the east ditch. The accident happened at around 9:38-p.m.

Patel was not injured in the collision, which remains under investigation. Fremont and Mills County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene,

DELORES REEDER, 72, of Atlantic, died Saturday, May 21st, at home. Funeral Services for DELORES REEDER will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic. Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic has the arrangements.

The funeral will be livestreamed and more details will be available on the funeral home website prior to the service.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, June 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Memorial may be directed to the family for later designation to Delores’ favorite charities.

Her husband – Lloyd Reeder.

Her sons – Jeff (Michele) Reeder; Michael Reeder (& partner Nicole Galietta), & Mark (Sara) Reeder.

Harlan’s Aidan Hall commits to Iowa football

Harlan’s Aidan Hall has committed to the 2023 Iowa Hawkeye football recruiting class. Hall was offered by the Hawkeyes last week and had started to receive a number of other offers from Division 1 programs.

Hall helped the Harlan Cyclones win a state championship last season. He piled up 777 rushing yards, 755 receiving yards, and notched 24 touchdowns as a Junior.

Hall also contributed 29.5 tackles and three interceptions on defense. He’s ranked as a 3-star recruit in the 247sports composite rankings and listed as the 13th best prospect from Iowa in that class. Hall made his announcement via social media on Saturday.

Cardinals edge Pirates 5-4 Saturday

The St. Louis Cardinals edged past the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 on Saturday evening at PNC Park. The Redbirds scored 4 in the 2nd to take the early lead and added the extra run they needed in the 4th. The Pirates scored two in the 2nd and 5th to come up one run shy.

Paul Goldschmidt had 4 hits and 2 RBI for the Cardinals. Tommy Edman had two hits and an RBI.

The Cardinals improved to 22-16 on the year. The Cards and Buccos close out the series with an early game on Sunday 10:35 a.m. first pitch. We’ll pick up coverage on KJAN at 11:00 a.m. following church services.
