The first full week of High School Football is upon us in the state of Iowa and we are gearing up for another fun season of coverage on KJAN. Join Chris Parks and Mike Smith for our KJAN High School Football Game of the Week each Friday night on KJAN!

Our weekly football coverage will begin each Friday afternoon at 4:45pm with Trojan Preview, Chris Parks’ weekly discussion with Atlantic Head Football Coach Mike McDermott about Trojan Football. Our weekly High School pick ’em show Who’s Gonna Win? airs each Friday at 6:00pm. Chris Parks, Jim Field, Matt Mullenix, and Doug Leonard join you each week to discuss and pick eight weekly high school football games including our broadcast game that week. The Dvorak Tire and Service Pregame Show will follow Who’s Gonna Win? at 6:30pm each week with kickoff for our game that week to follow at 7:00pm or 7:30pm.

This season following our game broadcast each Friday we will bring you the Iowa High School Scoreboard Show from Radio Iowa. Tony Atzeni, Todd Mortensen and the rest of the crew will bring you scores, recaps, and features each week from 10:00pm-11:30pm.

KJAN will be bringing you a live broadcast of the Cass County Fair Queen and King contest tonight from the Cass County Fairgrounds. Tune in for the audio or video broadcast at 7:00pm. We’ll have the audio broadcast on AM 1220, FM 101.1, online at kjan.com, and on the KJAN mobile app. Live video coverage will be available on KJANTV. Just head over to the TV page and click play on the embedded video player just before the broadcast.  The Little Miss and Little Mister contest will lead off the night before the King and Queen Ceremony emceed by our very own Jim Field.

The Atlantic High School Graduation Ceremony is set for Sunday, May 21st at 2:00pm at the Atlantic High School Gymnasium. We will provide live streaming video coverage of the commencement ceremony on KJANTV. We’ll get the stream started about 10 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony so you can begin viewing. Just go to kjan.com and go to the TV Page, that link is found on the right hand side of the page underneath the Community Hub. Once on the TV page simply click play on the video player that is embedded into the page. If you don’t see the graduation ceremony try refreshing the page and clicking play again. The Atlantic Trojans boys basketball team will play host to the Harlan Cyclones tonight and we’ll have coverage online on KJANTV. It’s the second meeting of the season between the two clubs with Harlan winning the first meeting on their home floor 74-71 back on January 3rd.

Atlantic is coming in to the contest with a three game win streak and picked up a nice win last week over Nebraska squad Elmwood-Murdock in Council Bluffs. Atlantic has been led by Senior Garrett Franken with 25 points and 9 rebounds per game.

The Cyclones have won their last two, including a big comeback win over Kuemper Catholic last Friday. Caleb Rasmussen has been the driving force for Harlan, averaging 16 points and 6 assists per contest.

Chris Parks will have the game online only on KJANTV. Pregame at approximately 7:20pm and tip-off set for 7:30pm.

The Atlantic girls basketball team will be on the road for a tough battle with Class 4A 5th ranked Lewis Central tonight and we’ll have coverage on KJAN.  The Titans come in with an 11-1 record and the Trojans are still searching for their first win at 0-12.

We will be bringing you a web only broadcast tonight on our TV page of the Atlantic vs. Kuemper Catholic boys basketball game being played at Atlantic High School.  Chris Parks and Seth Christensen will have the Hawkeye Ten battle for you tonight.  Atlantic comes in with a 10-2 overall record and are 5-2 in the Hawkeye 10.  Kuemper Catholic is 9-4 overall and 6-1 in Hawkeye 10 play.  Tip-off is set for 7:30pm and we’ll have pregame coverage about 7:20pm.
