GLENWOOD, Iowa (AP) – A Glenwood man is being held on $25,000 bond after being charged in connection with the death of his 5-month-old son. Authorities say 35-year-old Jason Curtis was arrested Wednesday on Felony charges of child endangerment, neglect of a dependent person and willful injury. They say Curtis called for help on July 14th because his son was barely breathing. When emergency crews arrived they found the child unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a Council Bluffs hospital. Special Agent in Charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Terry Klooster, says an autopsy showed Jackson Curtis died of head trauma. Klooster declined to say how the injury was inflicted because the investigation is continuing. Curtis appeared in court this (Thursday) morning.

Class 1-A Regional First Round:
ST. LOUIS (AP) – Pinch-hitter Allen Craig singled in the go-ahead run off reliever Alexi Ogando in the sixth inning with a sinking line drive that dropped just in front of right fielder Nelson Cruz, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 3-2 on Wednesday night in a chilly World Series opener. On a night when all the runs were driven in with opposite-field hits to right, Lance Berkman put St. Louis ahead with a two-run single in the fourth against C.J. Wilson. Mike Napoli tied it in the fifth with a two-run homer off Chris Carpenter. Carpenter got the win, allowing five hits in six innings, and Jason Motte got his fifth postseason save. Wilson walked a career-high six in 5 2-3 innings and took the loss. Colby Lewis starts for the Rangers in Game 2 on Thursday night against Jaime Garcia.
