BETTY I. CHRISTENSEN, 91, of Exira, died Mon., Jan. 2nd, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services for BETTY CHRISTENSEN will be held 10:30-a.m. Fri., Jan. 6th, at the Exira Lutheran Church. Kessler Funeral Home in Exira has the arrangements.
Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7pm Thu., Jan. 5th.
Burial will be in the Exira Cemetery.

Her children – Marletta (Ted) McKercher, of Omaha; & Don (Nancy) Christensen, of Atlantic.
4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; Special Family member Gay Bannister, of Atlantic; her brother-in-law, other relatives, and friends.
Dave Wiedersteen, Chair of the Cass County Republican Party, said last night attendees at the caucuses in the County selected Rick Santorum as their choice to take on President Obama in November’s elections. Santorum received 170 votes (25%), Newt Gingrich 147 (22%), Mitt Romney…who ultimately went on to win the State by a mere 8 votes, received 141 votes in Cass County (21%). Ron Paul drew 116 votes during the Cass County Caucus (17%), Rick Perry 66, Michele Bachmann 32, and Jon Huntsman who never even campaigned in Iowa, received 2 votes.
In Shelby County, where turnout at the caucuses was slightly over 10-percent (which was higher than the last caucus in 2008) Republican Party Chair Larry Madsen reports Rick Santorum received 153 votes, Ron Paul 108, Michele Bachmann 85, Mitt Romney 63, Rick Perry 46, and Newt Gingrich received 39 votes.
Eslewhere in the KJAN listening area: Rick Santorum was the top vote getter in Adair (25% of the vote), Audubon (24%), Guthrie (24%), Harrison (32%), and Montgomery County (29%). Ron Paul swept Adams County, with 37% of the vote. Pottawattamie County went to Mitt Romney, with 26% of the votes cast being for the winner of the 2012 Iowa Caucus.
