Atlantic Head Coach Kathy Hobson: “Going into meet we knew it would be a battle with Creston.  Alyssa Ginther played even with Rylie through 15 holes. Unfortunately for her a couple shots didn’t fall like she wanted.  But very competitive match. Baylee had a super day for us coming in with 81 and Runner-Up finish.  As I said after our tournament last week, having Alyssa, Baylee and Rylie all in the same playing group would have been fun to watch. Lauren got handicapped out of 12th place.  She is really coming around for us right now.  Postseason play is fast approaching.  We’ve had a great season so far but for us to continue to meet our goals we have to be able to stay mentally focused, play against the course rather than our competition and bunch our scoring.”

Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste: “Going into today, I was a little worried.  Had two not feeling well in the morning.  Garrett had a sore throat and watery eyes.  Cyle wasn’t feeling well also.  However, they were ready to golf.  Matt continues to play pretty consistent.  Had some wedge shots he would like back and doubled 9.  Cyle had a good front but had a tough hole 10.  Still continued to work and had a good score.  Braden continues his great play today.  Swung really well and great to see him at 3 over.  Tate started well.  Went to 18 and 1 with doubles and then had a tough hole 4.  I went to Drey and Tate with a few holes left and told them that they needed to keep battling.  Drey did and came in with our final score to help us shoot 314.  Garrett battled today.  He hit the ball well at times but then lost some focus at others.  Hope to get him feeling better for the next meet.  Great Team win today!!!  That is three conference championships in a row!!!”

IOWA CITY, Iowa — On the strength of its six straight series wins, including taking two of three games from No. 18 UC Irvine last weekend at Duane Banks Field, the University of Iowa baseball team has made its debut in the top 25 rankings.

The Hawkeyes come in at No. 24 by D1Baseball.com — the program’s first ranking by D1Baseball.com since the 2015 season when Iowa climbed as high as 14th.

The ranking is the first for the program since the 2017 season when the Hawkeyes were ranked 28th by Collegiate Baseball following its Big Ten Tournament title run.

The Hawkeyes are one of two Big Ten teams in the rankings.  Illinois is ranked 25th after taking two of three games from Indiana to knock the Hoosiers out of the top 25.

Iowa is 29-17 overall and 11-7 in Big Ten play, sitting in a tie for third in the league standings, with two weekends remaining in the regular season. The Hawkeyes close out their home schedule May 10-12, hosting Michigan State at Duane Banks Field.
