The Atlantic Community School District has named Nick Ross the new Head Football Coach for the Atlantic Trojan football team. Nick is currently serving the district as a history and physical education teacher at the Atlantic High School. Nick is a 2003 graduate of Atlantic High School. Nick played football for Atlantic and served as a team captain for Atlantic’s 2002 state championship football team. Nick then continued his playing days at Drake University where he played linebacker and served as a team captain his junior and senior seasons. After Nick’s playing days were over, Nick began his coaching career at the collegiate level, serving as a linebackers coach for the Drake University Bulldogs. Nick then took a teaching and Assistant Football Coaching position at Waukee High School and most recently the Defensive Coordinator for the 2011 Atlantic Football team. Nick and his wife Natalie, also a teacher and coach at Atlantic High School, along with their son Nolan, reside here in Atlantic.
