An accident early this morning on Interstate 29 in Pottawattamie County resulted in one person being sent to the hospital with critical injuries. According to the Omaha World-Herald, the wreck happened at around 3:45-a.m., just north of Council Bluffs. The vehicle ended-up in a ditch. One person in the vehicle was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha. No other information is currently available.

Coach Kathy Hobson says: What a day!! To take the top 4 individual spots in a quality tournament was beyond my expectations for the day but what a nice accomplishment for the girls. I am so pleased with their performances! This could be a real momentum builder going into the post season if the girls stay focused on doing their best and stay away from the negatives. This was our best 18 holes score in 6 years, bettering last seasons 356 in this tournament.
ORANGE CITY, Iowa (AP) – An Ohio-based company has told employees that its northwest Iowa meat plant in Orange City will close by the end of the year. Shuttering the AdvancePierre Foods plant will eliminate an estimated 300 jobs. Mayor Les Douma says the plant manager told him about the closing late Tuesday. Douma says the plant has “a great economic impact on the entire region.” The company supplies meat products and sandwiches to food-service, school, retail, club store, vending and convenience store markets.

STORMS ARE LIKELY TO DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON FROM CENTRAL TO NORTHEAST NEBRASKA…THEN SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS INTO EASTERN NEBRASKA AND WESTERN IOWA. THE MAIN THREAT AREA FOR SEVERE WEATHER ON WEDNESDAY WILL BE ALONG AND NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT…AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL ALSO IS POSSIBLE.
WEST CENTRAL/CENTRAL IOWA: LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE WITH A MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER FROM CENTRAL INTO WEST CENTRAL IOWA AND A SLIGHT RISK ELSEWHERE. DAMAGING WINDS…LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE ALL POSSIBLE. HEAVY RAINS AND LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING MAY OCCUR AS WELL.
