Teens arrested in connection with burglaries

The Red Oak Police Department reports two teens were arrested early this (Thursday) morning, in connection with recent burglaries. Officials say an unnamed 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male were both arrested without incident, at around 4- a.m.  The older teen was being held in the juvenile detention center in Council Bluffs, while the 14-year-old was released to the custody of a parent. No other details are available. 

The Red Oak P-D says also, 45-year-old Kevin Wayne Triplett, of Red Oak, was arrested Wednesday evening following a traffic stop. Triplett faces Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia charges. The man was being held in the Montgomery County jail on $2,000 bond.

Villisca man arrested Wednesday

The Atlantic Police Department reports a Villisca man, 23-year old Derek Cooper, was arrested Wednesday. Cooper was taken into custody on charges of Driving Under Suspension and having no SR-22 Insurance. He was booked into the Cass County Jail and held pending an appearance before the magistrate.

DONALD MONTGOMERY, 83, of Greenfield, died Wed., July 4th, at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. Funeral services for DONALD MONTGOMERY will be held 10:30-a.m. Tue., July 10th, at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield. Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9th, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery, with full military graveside rites by the Greenfield American Legion Head-Endres Post No. 265 and V.F.W. Post No. 5357.

Online condolences may be left to the family at www.steenfunerals.com.

Memorials may be directed to the Donald Montgomery memorial fund to be established by the family.

His children – Howard Montgomery (Teresa) of Greenfield; Paul Walz (Carol) of Des Moines; Shari Irvin of St. Petersburg, FL; Rick Eatwell (Marleny) of St. Petersburg, FL; and Douglas Kobylasz of Omaha, NE

His brothers – John Montgomery (Adelena), and Richard Montgomery (Gorgia), all of California, and Bob Montgomery (Loretta) of Colorado.

His sister – Janice Reyes of California.

9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, other relatives and friends.

MYRNA HIATT, 87, formerly of Atlantic, died Thu., July 5th, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City. Funeral services for MYRNA HIATT will be held 11-a.m. Sat., July 7that the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

There will be an open visitation at the funeral home on Fri., July 6th, from 8am-5pm, with a family visitation Saturday, one-hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

MYRNA HIATT is survived by:

Her children – Phillip Hiatt, of Rayville, MO., & Judith (Charles) Paulsen, of Denison.

Her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.
