The Red Oak Police Department reports three people were arrested after a theft at a Kum & Go Store Monday.
On Monday at about 1 PM, officers responded to a theft from the Kum & Go located at 701 N Broadway in Red Oak. The individual that called police said a bank deposit for the store valued at $3,500 had been stolen.
Later that same day, officers arrested 22-year-old Alicia Marie Terry, 28-year-old Michael Lisle Parson, and 22-year-old Dawn Rae Stephens who are from Red Oak on charges of theft 2nd degree, which is a class D felony. All three defendants were transported to the Montgomery County Correction and remain there on $5,000 bond awaiting an appearance before the magistrate.
Officers were able to recover a majority of the stolen money.
Authorities have released the name of a 27-year-old woman who was killed when gunfire erupted during a Sioux City neighborhood dispute.
She was identified as Karla Gonzalez, who was visiting friends in the area.
Police say witnesses reported that several people were stabbed when the fight started early Saturday morning, and then gunshots rang out.
Thirty-three-year-old Fernando Jaimes-Martinez has been charged with first-degree murder. He remains in Woodbury County jail, pending bail of $1 million. Jaimes-Martinez also faces felony charges of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and of willful injury. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.
The names of the people who were stabbed have not been released.
The Page County Sheriff’s reports a theft and a fire the past few days.
On Friday, September 21, Jeffrey Runyon of Villisca reported to the Sheriff’s Office that a trailer belonging to Nancy Rahn, who resides at the same address as Runyon, had burned and was a complete loss. The Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened sometime between September 19 and 21.
On Saturday, September 22, Kelvin Kirchner of Braddyville reported that sometime within the past three or four weeks someone entered his garage in the 400 block of Oak Street and removed a chainsaw and weed eater.

Core apples, leaving bottoms intact. Peel top third of each apples; place in a 5 quart slow cooker. Combine the cranberries, brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg; spoon into apples. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until apples are tender. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Yield: 5 Servings
In a large bowl, combine the first four ingredients. Crumble the beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place in a 5 quart slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, water, vinegar and sugar. Pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is no longer pink.
