DALE E. SORENSEN, 88, of Harlan died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Elm Crest Retirement Home in Harlan.  Funeral services for DALE SORENSEN will be held Saturday, July 28th at 10:30am at the First Baptist Church in Harlan.  Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 27th from 8am-9pm at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 6-8pm.

Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery

DALE E. SORENSEN is survived by:

Wife: Ruth Sorensen of Harlan.

Sons: Arlin (Nancy) Sorensen of Harlan.  Brad (Sue) Sorensen of Harlan.

Daughters: Brenda (Dennis) Prothero of Neenah, WI.  Jolene (Mark) Fincel of Oskaloosa.

Sisters: Ellen Linden of Harlan.  Vivian Lytle of Harlan.

Brothers: Myron (Bonnie) Sorensen of Harlan.  Lynn (Patricia) Sorensen of West Des Moines.  Stanley (Sue) Sorensen of Cincinnati, OH.

Traffic stop on I-80 yields 45-lbs of Marijuana

A traffic stop on Interstate 80 eastbound near Council Bluffs, Monday, resulted in the discovery of 45-pounds of marijuana, and the arrest of a Fort Bragg, California man. A Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 33-year old Dietmar K. Krumrey on Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to deliver, charge, and related offenses. The stop took place at around 1-p.m. Monday, when the deputy pulled over a 2012 Toyota Camry for excessive speed. Krumrey was booked into the Pott. County Jail, and later released on $5,000 bond.

…WILD FIRE DANGER ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA…

THE COMBINATION OF VERY DRY CONDITIONS…AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES FROM 95 TO 105 DEGREES…HUMIDITY FROM 20 TO 40 PERCENT AND SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS…WILL COMBINE TO PRODUCE CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR WILD FIRES ACROSS MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA THIS AFTERNOON. THE SITUATION IS MOST DANGEROUS IN GRASSY AREAS AND RANGELAND.

THE HOT AND DRY WEATHER PATTERN WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA THROUGH TODAY. DURING THIS TIME…REFRAIN FROM OUTDOOR BURNING AND BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SMOKING MATERIALS. SEVERAL COUNTIES HAVE BURN BANS IN EFFECT. PLEASE CHECK IN YOUR COUNTY BEFORE BURNING. ANY OPEN FIRE COULD SPREAD EASILY.

A COOL FRONT MOVING THROUGH THE UPPER MIDWEST WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY WILL PROVIDE THUNDERSTORM CHANCES AND COOLER TEMPERATURES HELPING TO DIMINISH THE FIRE THREAT.
