Iowa State senior linebacker A.J. Klein would like to see less black and gold on the ISU campus. Klein says he sees too many of his fellow students wearing Iowa Hawkeye gear. Klein says “It’s irritating.” He says “You should have pride in your school,” no matter where it is located. Klein, who grew up in Wisconsin, says he’s a supporter of the Cyclones, not the Badgers. He says seeing students support Iowa while attending ISU is like a “Punch to the jaw.” Klein says he would like to see all ISU students support the Cyclones. He says he understands fans from both teams can be “hard headed,” but he would like to see more Cyclone fans show their support by wearing the appropriate clothing, not that of the opposing team.

Drought among drains on Midwest economy

News

September 4th, 2012 by Ric Hanson

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – A monthly survey suggests that the continuing drought and lessening export demand for U.S. products are among the drains on the economy in nine Midwest and Plains.  A report released Tuesday says August’s Mid-America Business Conditions Index remained below growth neutral for a second month. It rose to 49.7 from 48.7 in July. June’s figure was 57.2.

The survey of business leaders and supply managers uses a collection of indexes ranging from zero to 100. Any score above 50 suggests growth while a score below 50 suggests decline for that factor.  Creighton University economist Ernie Goss oversees the survey, and he says supply managers remain pessimistic about future economic conditions. The survey covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
