COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) – Authorities are investigating the death of a Nebraska man whose body was found at a casino parking garage in Council Bluffs. The Daily Nonpareil reports the body of the 54-year-old Omaha man was found a little after 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the ground level of the parking garage of Harrah’s Casino & Hotel. Police Sgt. David Dawson says the man is believed to have jumped from the fifth floor of the garage around 6:30 p.m.
Dawson says a note was found in the man’s vehicle and that “it doesn’t appear that anything is suspicious” about the man’s death.
Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says in a tough Big Ten race you can expect to see more of the unexpected. The Hawkeyes improved to 2-4 in the league race on Saturday night with a victory over Wisconsin, just days after the Badgers posted a victory at then second ranked Indiana. The Hawkeyes return to action this (Tuesday) evening, with a visit to Ohio State. It will be the first game for Iowa forward Aaron White back in his home state. The sophomore is averaging 15 points and more than six rebounds in the last three games.
McCaffery says to have a chance against the Buckeyes the freshman guard duo of Mike Gessell and Anthony Clemmons will need to handle the pressure of the Ohio State guard court led by junior Aaron Craft. Craft leads the Buckeyes in steals and assists. Ohio State coach Thad Matta says the Buckeyes need to do a better job of protecting the basketball than they did in a 59-56 loss at Michigan State on Saturday.
Ohio State is 13-4 overall. Iowa is 13-5. Pre-game coverage on KJAN begins this afternoon, at 4:30. Tip-off is slated for 5:30.
