SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT…AND SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ALONG WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN WILL BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS.

Stabbing in Council Bluffs

The Council Bluffs Police Department report that a stabbing occurred at 1127 6th Avenue in Council Bluffs Saturday. Officers were not aware of the crime until the victim showed up at Mercy Hospital by private vehicle for treatment of severe cuts to the right side of his neck, face and right arm. The victim is in stable but serious condition at this time.

Through their investigation, the Council Bluffs Police Department was able to identify the suspect in the stabbing as 39-year old Ron Davis of Council Bluffs. He was taken into custody at his residence and transported to Jennie Edmondson Hospital for a minor injury he received during the incident with the victim. Davis was interviewed by a detective and after being released from the hospital, was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder and Willful Causing Serious Injury. At this time the Council Bluffs Police Department is in the process of executing several search warrants and their investigation continues.

Burglary in Red Oak

The Red Oak Police Department took a burglary report in the 700 block of East Reed Street Saturday. The victim, James Leroy Bourn states that sometime in the past week, an unknown person or persons forced a window open and entered the residence. Bourn reported that a chest set had been taken and is currently checking the to see if any other items have been taken.

Montgomery County Arrests

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest Saturday (today) of 14-year old Wyatt Dean Baldwin of Villisca. Baldwin was charged with Theft in the 5th Degree/Simple Misdemeanor. He was released to the Custody of a parent.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office also reports the arrest today of 22-year old Mykal Jesi Keith of Red Oak on a valid warrant for Theft in the 5th degree. Keith was transported to the Montgomery County Corrections where she was booked in and held on $300 cash bond.

VIRGIL E. ANDRESEN, 88, of Guthrie Center died Fri., May 17th at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center. Funeral services for VIRGIL E. ANDRESEN will be held at 11:00 AM Tues., May 21st at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Guthrie Center. Twigg Funeral Homes in Guthrie Center has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Mon., May 20th at Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center.

Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center.

MARY ALICE PETERS, 77, of Avoca died Fri., May 17th at her home. Mass of Christian Burial for MARY ALICE PETERS will be held at 10:00 AM Wed., May 22nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM Tues., May 21st at the funeral home, with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and a wake service held at 7:00 PM.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.

MARY ALICE PETERS is survived by:

Husband, Clyde Peters of Avoca

Daughters, Shelley (Brett) Holtz of Omaha, NE and Sheryl (Andy) Benkis of Omaha, NE
