(Red Oak, Iowa) – Police in Red Oak report three arrests. At around 4:30-p.m. Saturday, 32-year-old Michael Todd Archer, of Red Oak, was arrested following a traffic stop. Archer was taken into custody for Driving While License Suspended, and OWI/3rd offense. He was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

At around 10:30-p.m., Saturday, Red Oak Police arrested 30-year-old Antonia Jashae Hudson, of Red Oak, for Simple Assault. Her bond was set at $1,000.

And, at around 12:53-a.m. Sunday (today), Police in Red Oak arrested 45-year-old Jan Michael Elder on a charge of Driving While Barred, following a traffic stop. Elder was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

NORMAN KNIGHT, 61, of Atlantic, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Cass Health in Atlantic. A Celebration of Life for NORMAN KNIGHT will be held 10:30-a.m. Friday, June 9th, at Roland Funeral Home, in Atlantic.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

NORMAN KNIGHT is survived by:

His wife – Chanda Knight.

His parents- Jack and Violet Knight.

His children – John (Kelly Pickett) Knight; Cheryle (Troy Mack) Knight; Daniel Knight, and Jeff (Marjorie) Knight.

His step-children: Brianna (Chance) Thomas; Ryan (Chelsie) Camden, and Emily Garside.

His brother – Kelly (Marlow) Knight.

TODD B. ROECKER, 67, of Atlantic, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial TODD ROECKER will be held 10:30-a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Atlantic. Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic is assisting the family.

The mass will be live-streamed and recorded and can be located on the funeral home’s website. A luncheon will be held following the mass located in the church hall.

A visitation will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, on Friday, June 9, from 4:30-until 7:00-p.m., and beginning with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. A Sharing memories of Todd’s life will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Portsmouth, Iowa.

Memorials can be made to LC Pregnancy Clinic in Atlantic, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, or a future scholarship fund. Memorials may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 523, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.

His wife – Jolene [Bruck] Roecker.

His children – Katie (Ryan), Kelly (Shawn), Kami (Jeff), and Christopher (Heather).

His brothers – Greg (Denise) Roecker and Marc (Kim) Roecker.

11 grandchildren, his sister-in-law Kathleen, as well as the extended Bruck family, other relatives, and friends.

Atlantic Softball Invite is a go today

The Atlantic Varsity Softball Invite is a go for today at the Atlantic Little League Complex. Games will now start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning instead of 9:00 a.m. Atlantic’s schedule was washed out by the weather on Friday but officials have determined that conditions at the little league complex are good enough to still host the tournament.

Teams that were scheduled to be involved are Exira-EHK, Harlan, CB Abraham Lincoln, Earlham, Lewis Central, Red Oak, Carroll, Estherville-Lincoln Central, and Underwood.

Hawkeyes down North Carolina to open NCAA Regional play

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – The number two seeded University of Iowa baseball team edged No. 3 North Carolina, 5-4, on Friday night at Bob Warn Field

The Hawkeyes jumped out to an early lead before the Tar Heels rallied to make things close in the ninth.

Marcus Morgan got the start for the Hawkeyes and earned his fifth win of the season. He struck out five over five innings of work allowing just two hits and one earned run. Jack Whitlock threw three scoreless innings and Luke Llewellyn earned his fourth save of the season striking out two batters.

Kyle Huckstorf was 2-for-3 and Brayden Frazier was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sam Hojnar tallied two RBIs and Ben Wilmes also plated a run.

The Hawkeyes outhit the Tar Heels, 9-7, and stranded 10 North Carolina baserunners.

Iowa moves to 43-14 on the year. The Hawkeyes are one win away from tying the program wins record set in 1981.

UP NEXT

The Hawkeyes face top seeded Indiana State Saturday at 5 p.m. (CT) at Bob Warn Field.

Red Oak woman arrested for Public Intoxication

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest early Saturday morning of 38-year-old Chandra Christine Baggett of Red Oak for Public Intoxication. Baggett was arrested at approximately 1:48 a.m. in the 200 block of East Maple Street in Red Oak. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond.

2 from Lewis arrested in Montgomery County early Saturday

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two people from Lewis following a traffic stop early Saturday morning. The traffic stop was conducted on Highway 34 and 4th Street in Red Oak at 1:55 a.m. on Saturday. Deputies then arrested the driver 42-year-old Christopher Rae Holz of Lewis for Violation of a No Contact Order and three Cass County Warrants for Controlled Substance Violation, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, and OWI 1st Offense. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $20,000 bond.

His passenger in the vehicle 35-year-old Jennifer Lynn Holz of Lewis was also arrested for Violation of a No Contact Order. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $1,000 bond.
