The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports a Red Oak man was arrested Monday evening for Driving While Barred. 24-year old Randy Michael Mitchell was taken into custody just before 5-p.m. and booked into Montgomery County Corrections, where he was being held on a $2,000 cash bond.
A Nebraska man accused of allegedly performing sex acts with two girls in Mills County, Iowa and Sarpy Count, in Neb., has waived his right to a speedy trial. The Daily NonPareil reports 64-year old John Robert Schondelmeyer of Bellevue, Neb., is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 25th, 2014. The man pleaded not guilty in Mills County to charges of two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child, last month.
He is charged in Sarpy County as a fugitive from justice, two felony counts of sexual assault of a child younger than 12 years of age and two felony counts of incest. The alleged incidents – which include incest – occurred several times in September at Schondelmeyer’s home in Bellevue and at a residence in Iowa, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Both cases involve the same two children, ages 7 and 8.
If convicted in Mills County, he faces up to 50 years in prison for the two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and up to 10 years for each count of lascivious acts with a child. In Sarpy County, he faces up to two life sentences in prison for the sexual assault charges and up to 40 years in prison and a $50,000 fine for each of the incest charges.
Schondelmeyer’s bond was reduced from $70,000 to $35,000. He is being held in the Mills County Jail.
