Monona County couple injured in Pott. County Monday morning cycle crash

News

September 3rd, 2013 by Ric Hanson

(Update to earlier story)

Two people from Monona County suffered what were described as non-life threatening injuries, after the motorcycle they were riding crashed Monday morning on Interstate 29 in Pottawattamie County.Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says the driver of the cycle, 60-year old Duane Renz, and his passenger, 59-year old Jane Renz, both of Moorhead, were transported by Crescent Rescue to Creighton University Hospital in Omaha following the crash near the 65-mile marker on I-29 southbound, at around 10:20-a.m., Monday.

Danker says the rear tire on the cycle quickly deflated, but Renz was able to control the machine as it drifted from the left passing lane onto the west  shoulder, but he was forced to dump the cycle onto its side as it was traveling at a slow speed. Renz and his passenger were ejected from the cycle in the process. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The couple complained of pain afterward, and were transported to the hospital to be checked out.
